GT200 GTX280/260 "official specs"

Special press tweaked drivers lol. So with all the reviews we may be seeing fake performance numbers.

Yeah because we all know Charlie Demerjian of the INQ is sooo totally not biased, immature, always right, and not just a plain lying arsebiscuit
Just like he was right about R600 being faster than G80, and R670 being faster than G92.

Has anyone seen this? (dunno if it's been linked) http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2008/06/12/gt200-scores-revealed

He's an idea, how about some of us, that actually know about these things, comment on that article? ripping in to this moron. You never know, it may make his 'articles' a little better/less bias in the future, though very unlikely.

He says their going to be barely faster. hmmm

GeForce 8800 GTX

core 575MHz
Shaders 1350MHz
768MB 1800MHz
384-Bit Memory Interface
128 Stream Processors

GTX 260

core 575mhz
896mb 1000mhz
Shaders 1242mhz
448-bit Memory Interface
192 Stream Processors

Probably has more ROPS and Texturing units as well, but are those really going to make it blow old G80 out of the water like everyones expecting, or is everyone still expecting the usual, about 10-15fps more in this one, only about 5-6 more in this one....

He was probably right about the special tweaked drivers though is all i was saying. I myself don't believe anything until i see proper reviews and even then i like to go with the testing that people on forums like these do. I think nvidia and to an extent ati have there say in to many review sites these days giving them a little funding to make the reviews suit there own cards.

As much as I often enjoy reading The Inq (it's a tech tabloid, pure and simple) I have to agree that Charlie is a complete and utter cretin... I often read his articles and think "How the frick did this guy get a job"... he wouldn't know objective and professional journalism if it walked up to him and slapped him around the head with a big neon sign saying "ZOMG I AM OBJECTIVE JOURNALISM". All you have to do is read his Sony articles for one of many examples. He'll never change though.

I personally think the 4870x2 will be the fastest card when it comes onto the scene. Just hope its priced well. I also think a 4850x2 will do really well against a gtx260. Then we need to see what nvidia can come to the table with to compete against the 4870 and 4850. Those cards are the ones that most people will be able to buy most likely.

Glad someone else here has some sense! i dont understand how he gets paid for it. Honestly, it's beyond ridiculous.

You got the ram wrong in that comparison

The original quote was much funnier since it's from a classic movie called Airplane! ;)

Cheers Tom, I'll take that as a complement that you think I'm young enough not to know that!

Anyway, I reckon you're right. The ATI cards won't perform better...........but I won't be selling my Gran to buy a GTX-280.
