GT200 GTX280/260 "official specs"

Ahahahah, LOL @ the pricing. No thanks, I think I'll wait and see what ATi come up with. My GX2 is looking like more and more of a keeper.

As mrk says nearly every card comes with them now. Even my PNY 9800GTX came with one.

Are you talking about the 6pin to 8pin PCI-E adaptor ? You need to be careful about this. As I said earlier on this thread, Nvidia don't recommend using them unless your psu can supply 150w over the 6pin pci-e cable when you plug in the adaptor. However generally 6pin pci-e cables on psu's are only specced for half that amount. The adaptor therefore will only work if you psu is specced to also supply up to 150w down a 6pin cable. Some psu's will, some won't.

That's why EVGA never supplied these adaptors with their GX2's. While BFG say it's ok as long as your total 12v rail output is 40amp. They must be using this as a general rule of thumb, which is why they are supplied with BFG GX2's. It will probably be the same story with the GX280.

Personally I think it's madness for anyone to go for a GX280 on launch day over the obvious high prices that happens every time a new card is launched, and considering the ATI card is out soon after it might offer 90% of the performance for half the price.

Oh and guys, if you figured this was it, you are wrong. We'll have more GeForce GTX 280 articles this week.

*
Wednesday a nice phat GeForce GTX 280 SLI / 3-way SLI article.
*
Thursday the first retail review from BFG, with their pre-overclocked OC edition (and yes, we'll overclock that retail sample ourselves as a little further as well).

im gona have to wait till the ATI cards are out will make a decision then.

im still running an ATI X1800XT on an opty 170 @2.8ghz. what's the chances of the opty being the bottleneck if i stuck a 280 or 4870 in with it?
