GT200 GTX280/260 "official specs"

At lower resolutions i don't think it will be anywhere near twice as fast as a gx2 when sli is working properly but at high resolutions when the gx2's memory lets it down there could be a possibility. 2 times as fast as a 9800gtx is probably nearer to where it will be i reckon.

Twice as fast as the GX2 and I'll buy one!

Seems like I'll be going AMD this time, simply as it seems like a better price/performance ratio.

Bet it wont end up been twice as fast as a GX2.

Almost certainly not - not in average FPS benchmarks anyway (see earlier for my views on the problems multi-GPU solutions have in other areas).

But really - when have we ever seen a release which is so much faster than the previous-generation SLI solution? Even the 8800GTX when released only beat the 7900GX2 by 0 to 25% in most cases.

ty man read some chinise comments they dont really like ati i think :( but how will they buy nvidia high end witch will cost 400£ + lal

There are a LOT of Chinese with a LOT of money. Just ask our Universities - they effectively fund our higher education system single handedly, through the extortionate fees charged for non-EU students for graduate programs. A large proportion of them arrive in BMWs / Mercedes every day.

Thinking of China as a third-world country is a big mistake, these days.

Bet it also wont be twice as fast as the GX2, but I also reckon it will excel in some of the titles ie crysis....

In higher rez this beast will surely dominate big time, still its good news alround cos we get ATI/Nvidia big chips within the week and we can have lots of choices/options.

Frankly even ATIs options will be excellent and different and still an option, considering its that sour time of the year and not really any decent or new PC games arriving we got time to play around with till fall and even then theres the falls refreshes to play with :)

as long as these new cards are optimised for 1920x1080 and above, then its all good. there's no point in us high res gamers replacing our gtx's if they dont offer much of an improvement.

well the people from honkong yes the people outside it not really

... Um, no

There are tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of ultra-rich Chinese families, coming from every major city in China, particularly Beijing and Shanghai. I teach many of them on a daily basis. Their wealth comes mainly from the manufacturing sector (factory owners etc). You're just talking rubbish, probably because you would like to think of them as poor and scummy. Anyway, back on topic.

The specs seem remarkably similar to a GX2 in terms of raw power, with the big difference coming in memory access.

What we're looking at is pretty much the same performance (at a guess) as a 9800GX2 without it falling over above 1920x1200.

As the 9800 GX2 is the GT200 apparently, its just both of its cores stuck onto 1x chip, so its a proper single card now, not 2x bodged together.

no i just seen more people that are poor then rich from china and come over to work over here so that was mine opinion.

so back on topic how many tmu or what u call it top end nvidia card will havE?

The best thing about these is since they are single chip is not worrying about what games it will perform 100% at

this is where the card will beat down gx2/x2's in fps for games like crysis and a few others, probably due to poor coding on the sli/crossfire part or not enough optimisation
