that is just the heatspreader, is it not?
Damn I was thinking of going gtx260 for cost reasons but looks like it isnt just the lower ram and sps compared to the 280 there is more to it

All the "Nvidia made them quit DX10.1" stuff? None of that focuses on ingame things, it's just a matter of "new feature, must have" like the inital DX10 people who got frustrated that their cards didn't really show itself in any games yet, and completely ignored the fact that the G80 and 2900 were/are fantastic DX9 performers.
