GTA 4 PS3 vs 360

i have both consoles but have opted for the ps3 version mainly because all my online friends are on my psn and online is free , i never used my 360 online so i have no friends on that:(

I remember being totally blown away with GTA3 and played it constantly for months, the rest just didn't have the same sparkle or Wow factor imo. I think many loved VC cos that was the popular one. Although IMO VC was the weakest of the series. But GTA3 is really the best!!!!

all the others were just add-on really thats why they never called them GTA 4

thats why this one is totally different, new engine, etc, new graphics, and its gonna be amazing, really been waiting for this

got a HDTV now

got a 5.1 sound system now as well

its gonna be a million times better than GTA 3

i reckon ill play it non stop for 6 months
 
I'll be buying it for my PS3, just because the hardware is better, and I much prefer the DS3 to my 360's controller.

I couldn't care less about the 'exclusive' DLC at the moment, if I really feel the urge to play it, I'll just pick up a 360 version out of the bargain bin in a few months - who's to say that the PS3 wont get it's own DLC at some point anyway?

The DLC content wouldn't interest me at all by the time its out i would have played the game and had my fun, plus theres no way its going to be free knowing M$.

The PS3 has a more relaxed color pallet, but this gives everything a more realistic look. If you don’t like the realistic look, and you have a HDMI connection, you can fiddle with your PS3 display settings and get it looking much more saturated. The textures are just as sharp as the 360 version, and there’s little to no pop-in or screen tearing. The PS3 takes longer to load than the 360, but I took several different head counts in game at different locations, and I always found the PS3 to be more populated than the 360. This could be attributed to the dynamic nature of the world, but it’s hard to tell. Either way, the difference was never more than five to seven pedestrians or three to four cars—it’s not really much of an advantage.

The 360 is bright. Boy is it bright. Based on discussion history, this one will be claimed to look better, but it’ll really be preference. The texture quality is the same on both systems, but the 360 has a more cartoon-like look. This isn’t a bad thing. It just depends on preference. I’d compare the difference to that of Oblivion on each system. The 360 also suffers from some frame rate drops that are almost non-existent on the PS3. Installing the 360 version on your system’s hard drive, however, will bring performance almost up to par with the PS3.

The 360 is a good console, but I only own the ps3.
I wonder if the loading times will be similar (I have no idea if bluray is quicker/slower than dvd read speed). I know the xbox version is getting the new content, but the game may have trouble fitting on a 8.5gb dvd? not all consoles have hard drives either, so long load times for core owners?.
The xbox pad is comfy and I use one for pc games, I bought a DS3 which is 10000x better than the crappy sixaxis but the 360 pad is still better.

In response to the poster above, wasnt gta4 delayed due to frame rate issues??? Surely 1080p (twice the pixels of 720p) would absolutely rape the framerate?

Just out of curiosity why will you be buying it on PS3 over 360? I can't see what the PS3 offers over the 360 (unless you prefer the controller) and the 360 offers the exclusive DLC.

Don't get me wrong I'd get it on PS3 over 360 simply because the majority of my gaming friends have PS3's and not 360's, I prefer the controller and don't care much for DLC for a game I'm probably never going to complete 100% anyway.
 
Its sad how many people are blinded by a brand name when they say they will get it on the ps3 (its true of most of my real life friends as well).

I mean come on it doesn't "feel right", Sony must be loving you!

I can understand it if its the only console you own but for those with both there should be no question! It's not like supporting a football team where your loyal beyond all reason. For those that want the complete GTA experience you will have to get it on the 360.. thats not being a fanboy.. its just a fact.

I've got both consoles and had this on Pre Order for the PS3 since last July!

Reasons why I'm going for the PS3 version are as follows....

1- PS3 is much quieter than the 360
2- Prefer the PS3's controller
3- Although I know a couple of people getting it on the 360 I also know a couple of people getting it on the PS3 and considering online Play is free with Sony if I want to play online PS3 is the way to go
4- Not that bothered about the DLC as by the time it's released I'll proberly be bored of the game anyway but if I'm not I can always pick up a cheap second hand 360 version of the game if I REALLY want to check it out
5- It's so late in the day to pre order it now I fear I wouldn't get a copy at all on launch day were I to cancel my PS3 order :p
6- I'm a Sony fanboy :p

PS3 for me, sold my 360.

I'm not really a fanboy, i just hate microsoft! (and i have very good reason/s)

but i can totally agree with people saying 'it just feels right'. I didnt get on with Saints Row because of *** controller. And it's a nice controller - but years of GTA has left memories in my pimping hos controls!
 
I dont get why ppl use the 360s noise as an excuse, u cant even hear it when stuffs coming thru speakers unless ** on real low which is unlikely

Is it possible that you have not heard every single 360 in every single persons living room or gaming environment and are, therefore, having difficulty in understanding how it could be an annoyance to those with family/children/parents or other reasons why turning up the volume a few notches is not always convenient? ;)
