GTAV performance thread.

well all I can say is atm im very very happy with my single 3770k at 3.8gz and gtx 980
im playing at 4k res everything maxed apart from shadows to softest and post fx to high
even advanced graphics to maxed and sliders all to max.
lowest I get is 30fps fullstop.
oitherwise I get ranging from 40 to 67fps :D

Don't bother messing with bloom and HDR in sweetfx unless a game really needs it (which this one does not). You will end up making it look terrible unless you really know what you're doing.

I'm using kputts config but have turned off levels as it causes black crush, and slightly tweaked the lift gamma gain settings instead.

The main bonus from using sweetFX is SMAA and slight lumasharpen, and then turning off MSAA and FXAA completely in game - I'm getting brilliant smooth performance in SLI by doing this and it looks good for the most part.

Yeah ive come to the conclusion that i dont like HDR it makes everything too bright, but i do like bloom. Im not gonna add any other effects in yet, as i have a feeling rockstar proberbly added a lot of their own in and i dont wanna mess them up.

Are you sure you are not running 2xGTX980s ?

Im running 980 SLI with a Swift and the stutter is not terrible but very noticable, SLI turned off and its considerable smoother. Anyone found this aswell and has anyone managed to fix/improve?

The game has problems with multi-gpu setups of both kinds (SLI&CF), there's no real solution for it until Rockstar and Nvidia/AMD work it out and release better drivers/game updates.

Yeah ive read on a few forums, guys getting micro stutter with sli and crossfire, a lot of people are just doing what you do and disabling sli since it runs so well on one 980 anyway. I guess they will sort it in the next drivers.

SLI 980s here and not one bit of stutter ( soon changes when push the advanced graphics sliders above half way , although other here say they are maxing those setting without drops in framerate.

Playing with a 290x (1140/1580) and a 2600k (4.4GHz) @ 1080p

Was playing with all at max except no MSAA, Shadows and grass down a notch. Was playing fine except at busy junctions I'd Skip a few frames, causing me to crash a lot of the time.

Took post FX Down a notch and now its smooth as.... Can I say it in this thread? :D

Might try putting the shadows and/or grass back up and see what happens.

Interesting reading. I have an I5 4690 @ 3.5GHz, would upgrading it to a I7 4790 @ 4.00GHz do much to help performance with GTA5? I have a VTX 290X at the moment.

play gta for a while with AB or task manager open look at cpu graph

my 5930k @ 4.5ghz only hits 45%

so roughly 3-4/3-4 cores/threads

Nope i have 1 gtx 980 game runs fantastic 4 me in 4k practically maxed. I have a galax gtx 980 soc version
very surprised tbh it runs so well lol..
i was hoping 4 around 30fps if that but im mostly getting 40-67 fps lowest drop ive ever seen so far is 30

See my posts a page or 2 back! In summary MSAA causes stuttering in SLI, for me at least. Turn it off. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=27932422&postcount=129

780Ti SLI and rog swift here, and all beautifully smooth now. Plus I'm running a custom sweetfx with SMAA to sort of the jaggies and tweak the visuals a bit.

Performance varies wildly - I'm using all 'high', 0 MSAA.

In the city, solid 60fps with v-sync on.

Out of the city with lots of grass around, 30fps with drops to 20fps. 1450ish MB vram usage with textures on high.

Played a bit over the weekend, game is great, looks great plays great and very addictive. Only trouble I seem to have is keybindings wont save, which is annoying and when changing settings it jumps to windows mode and have to switch back. I do have one annoyance with the game is that I use an xbox one controller for driving etc only, having to jump back and forth between pad and keyboard mouse can be annoying.

i do the same with an xbox pad, i dont find it too bad, its got to be better than driving with the keyboard or aiming with the pad

Can you tell me what your exact post FX setting is on

Runs superb for me @ 1080p, everything maxed, apart from Grass, which ive dropped to High from Ultra, as out in the countryside it kills it, and no MSAA, so out in the countryside with loads of grass, im around 47/48fps now (was down to around 23 on Ultra Grass), and in the cities, im 60/70+, and at night, im anywhere from 60/100+, mostly 70s, as seems to run much better at night.

These are my settings :-

Now got Grass on High (as said above), and put the Reflection MSAA back on, as that doesn't seem to affect the frame-rate.

Some shots from the start, had the motion blur halfway up on these, as thought it would look rubbish, but looks fine, so now have it maxed, with no affect on frame-rate.
