GTX 780 Owners Club

EVGA GTX780 SC ACX

Just an update regarding my multiple problems.

Had a driver not responding and recovered message last night with only one programme running – Outlook! So removed all NVidia software and installed 320.18 with GeForce experience. Bit the bullet and ran Metro 2030 – two hours later it was well past bedtime. No crashes. Really good visuals @ 2560x1600.

Switched on this morning and no signal to monitor. Tried my old monitor on the DVI port and had a display, tried both monitors and had one display, swopped both leads over and display swopped. So one DVI port on my card is broken and I think the second may be flaky. Quick web note to OCuk and have an RMA. Really pleased I paid slightly extra to buy from OCuk. Did try to contact EVGA support, but their reply came after I had contacted OCuk. They also offered a RMA. Think it best to send it to OCuk?

Should be within the seven days for a refund – so what do I buy? HD7970? (LOL)

Thank you for all the help.

OCuk Titan Goliath. EX58-UD3R(1.6) FK BIOS.. i7 920 DO @3.6 on air. OCuk Radeon HD6970. 256 Gb Crucial M4. 12Gb Corsair Vengeance. Corsair TX750W. Cooler Master Cosmos.

I've RMA'd my WF 3X, not putting up with coil whine for a card that cost me £600. Going to go for the EVGA ACX once OCUK get their stock.

Scrap that. Out of curiosity I got my brother in law to try the same test on his system, same CPU/Board/PSU however he has a HIS 7950. He's getting the exact same whine on that same 3D mark test.

I have a WF3 & dont have any coil whine apart from with FIFA 13 opening screen but its has happend to all my GPU's !... Does it happen when gaming or only in the 3D mark test ?

Finally had the chance to do some proper OCing with the new rig.

Got my i5 3750k running at a nice stable 4.2Ghz. It ran happily enough on 4.3Ghz but the temperatures got as high as 87 degrees in Prime 95, so stepped back to 4.2.

The Windforce 3x 780 is so quiet! Got it oc's to +125 on both core and memory using EVGA Precision. That gave me a clock of around 1200 on the core. Lovely. And despite repeated tests the GPU temperature never went above 63 degress (air cooled rig).

That gave me a 9211 on 3DMark Fire Strike with a physics score of 7986 and a graphics score of 11100.

Just got my 780 windforce 3x oc. But I have a slight concern if any 1 can help. There are no clips on the power connectors to hold the wires in place. The writes just slot on and pull out of the connectors without pressing the release clip on the wires coming from the psu. Wondering is that's how it's ment to be.

These are the clips i am talking about. mine are not like this picture, they look like they have been snapped off of something.

I'm pretty sure mine has these! I need to sort my case out tomorrow so I will double check for you.

Saying that, though, even if the clips aren't there it would surely only be a problem if something physically reached into your case and pulled them out? Can't imagine how they'd come loose under normal use.

Still though, expensive card to have a 'fault', even if really minor. Depends if you're happy with it or not really.

anyone gone from a single 780 to sli, notice any real upgrade?

stock clocked / ref cooler etc.

thinking of getting another next pay as i maybe upgrade to 27"
thanks

Quite a few SLI owners around here but I think all of us have had two since the start. Benchmarks aside I've only tested single vs SLI in one game, which is known not to work well with multi GPU setups (at least at the high end as it quickly becomes CPU limited), and didn't encounter any problems. Didn't really gain anything either. All the reviews I read at the time of release showed good scaling in SLI so if you're playing modern games there is no reason not to go for it :)
