GTX 780 Owners Club

2500K @ 4.2Ghz* / 780 @ Stock - P 10934

*Would be 4.4Ghz but bleh! (MB Bios / OC control / 780 fun fun fun....:mad:)

would have expected a lil more than that at stock.. You having trouble OC'ing your 2500K? You can prob get much higher score with your 780 clocked up.

Gonna try and reach 14,000 - 15,000 territory :D

Now I just have to wait for mine to arrive, no next day delivery either so could be ages :(

For graphics score anything over 15000 would mean you have a very good one.

(Just to confirm that is overall score not graphics score.)

Lets just say a flash of the MB bios (to recognize the 780) means I can no longer overclock my 2500K via the Bios - although a 3570/3770 would be fine . I can clock via Software but don't have voltage control. 4.2Ghz is the highest the CPU will go on "auto" voltage. I can fix this but getting the 780 recognized was a absolute pain in the ass to begin with. The MB flash reverted my boot drive to IDE mode which caused all manner of problems.

Just been fiddling and scored P 12089 with the card clocked (boosting) to 1200/6800

Graphics score of just over 15k. My physics score is very low at 7.7k which appears to be dragging the whole caboodle down.

Further to my post above, I am not sure that the software clocking control is working at all. Running my benchmark of Crysis 3 last night (for a big 7970 OC Eyefinity vs 780 OC Surround review I am writing), I noticed GPU utilisation was ducking and diving from 99% to 80% constantly. When I was running the 7970 overclocked (with my 2500K @ 4.4Ghz) GPU utilisation was stable at 100% constantly.

A CPU bottleneck on a single GPU at 3600x1920 is unlikely, but I have a i7 3770K coming to test this theory.

This month has been quite expensive so far. :o:p

This mine running Crysis 3 @2560x1600 maxed out.

GPU 1 is a little low but would probably improve if I overclocked the CPU a bit

I've had my Gigabyte GTX 780 for about 3 weeks now and played BF3 Grid 2 and a couple of other games with it.

It's great with the ability to run everything maxed out on BF3. I did pretty much run everything on high on BF3 before using my old 8800GT 1GB (Golden Sample version) at playable frame-rates.

However, what I'm not so impressed about is the actual visual effects. I know that my 8800 GT was fast becoming 'minimum requirement' for most games for the past year or two. I suppose moving from something that old I was expecting the visuals to be more.... um... spectacular.

I haven't noticed anything dramatically different just minor improvements. Will I have to wait a while to see the full benefits of the current crop of GFX cards on newer/next gen games?

Or maybe I need to lower my expectations?

Running a single 7950 until my 780 gets here, I do prefer the single card experience even though I have to lower settings. Think I am one of those sensitive to micro stutter or summin, def feels much smoother with just one GPU. Looking forward to the trying the 780, hoping it's not to far off Titan performance, especially when overclocked.

GTX 780 + 3960X this year. Next year GTX 880/HD 9970 + 5960X 8 Core !

Just installed my 3770K and after finding a nice and quick 4.4Ghz overclock I am now scoring 13,518 with the GTX780 @ 1189/6800.

Graphics score of 15,170.

I could probably get closer to 14k by pushing the CPU further and squeezing a bit more out of the 780 but this will do. I am far more concerned with gaming performance which on average seems to be about 20-25% higher than a 7970 clocked to 1200-1250/6400 (@ 3600x1920).

Looking to OC my 780 Windforce 3X, what is the best way of doing this and can someone guide a n00b through some to try? I believe my card is pre overclocked but it needs a push! :D

Not sure what you mean. Apart from higher frame rates at higher resolutions, the visuals will be almost identical to your old card. Yes you can have more visual effects in your advanced settings but the majority of people don't notice. A lot depends on what resolution you play at.

Get EVGA Precision X / MSI Afterburner.

Increase the core speed, say +100 and run a benchmark with it... If it crashes out, decrease by 10mhz and try again, if it doesn't crash, up by 10Mhz. Just push the card to it's limits until it crashes, then drop back down a touch. It's as simple as that! (Same with the memory also)

Keep an eye on temperatures etc, but don't worry about frying your card - it won't happen.

Not sure, just that I was expecting something brilliant. I assumed that a lot of the newer games had some effects there my 8800GT wasn't capable of rendering etc.
