Guild Wars 2

I dont think they will be going to the holy trinity do you? or along them lines...I feel that Gw2 doesnt give you a purpose in a group. I have only just returned and a great fan of PvE but so far I havent done anything regarding dungeons. I also havent reached max level (currently 41)

Well tbh, they haven't... until this announcement.

Only the living story has seen regular content additions.

Game balance patches and especially pvp/wvw content has been very few/far between and often misguided and very stagnant.

Hopefully HoT will change all that for once.

I am PVE only. So, for me, they have.

And I still think its the best money that I have ever spent on a game.

When is the new stuff coming out?

I've enjoyed GW2 a lot but my only gripe is the apparent lack of care for the good players who want to play hard content.

Don't get me wrong, there is some hard content, but most of the game is just a faceroll even without proper gear/trait/party setups. almost everything in the game can be stomped by a group of players with any build and any gear. Thats great for allowing everyone to get a chance at everything but it also means anyone with a proper build/team/gear will find absolutely no challenge at all.

in fact almost all dungeons were solo-able and IIRC all were doable in a duo.

Fractals are very repetative, and world events are not really much fun as its just a huge mega zerg and individual participation is irellevant.

Don't think im just saying the game entirely sucks. It has many many merits (The UI isnt one! grrr) but Those are my gripes, perhaps im a bit elitist but I really hate opening content up to those who suck too bad to reach it, and guildwars basically panders to entitled carebears meaning, no content for the good MMO players.

In PVE on my ele, I'd love to sometimes use water/earth skills. I love some of their effects. Thankfully they still have a place in PvP.

AI, particularly for bosses needs to be improved. This might go a long way to making some content actually hard.

Path selling gone :(

I think more dungeons should have things like aetherblade path, thats much harder and gives some good solid rewards, and that requires well built complimentary teams with proper gear and good levels of tactics and teamwork.

Ok if you're pve only then I suppose the LS content/zones, addition of fractals, EotM (yes, this is just a pve karma train anyway :p) and other small changes may be satisfactory.

PvP has seen very little new content - raid on the capricorn was removed along with the underwater component, the conquest game mode has been incredibly stagnant, a few new maps added (ie skyhammer) but nothing really beyond that.

And WvW has been equally ignored for the most part other than minor flavour changes.

Also, as I have been a mesmer main for the past two and a half years or so, I've gotten used to disappointing "balance" (nerf) patches and destruction of builds (such as glamour confusion, sword and focus, or even skills like Mimic...).

So yeah, I'm not a happy camper - only the combat keeps me playing, so this news of HoT is a huge relief for me.

If there is a guild going by all means chuck me an invite, i have 2 level 80s and both 100% map completion and all JP's done i believe.

Anyway decided put the warriors old clothes back on instead of the ones in the other pics.

wow wish my guardian would look this good, that special armour?

Really cant wait to play this again over weekend.

I played this for a bit soon after it was released, and never really got it unfortunately.

I got to about lvl 40 and just found myself wandering around looking for events to level myself up to the next part of my living story. Was I playing it correctly or was I missing something really obvious?

Hearing about these specialisations for our classes. I am hoping there will be a healing specialisation, seems to be my calling in MMOs these days lol

The lack of a healing class is one of the things that puts me off GW2 - as, like you, healing is what I get the biggest buzz out of.

As another post says, you don't really have a role in a group, so things can just degenerate into a zerg fest.

Having said that I do keep dipping into this game, but don't feel as involved as I did in GW1 or WoW when playing a monk/priest (or mesmer, thief or any other more defined role)

My biggest problem is when i reinstall and log back in, i can never be bothered to do anything and just stand around for a while. I will do PvP but its just running around aimlessly in a zerg, it never feels rewarding.

I used to love the PvP jumping puzzle before they separated it from the battlegrounds, had hours of fun with the opposition in there. Great for a quick log in and an hours blast.

I keep wanting to get involved again but i just cant bring myself too it.

You mean wvw, or pvp?

PvP is still 5v5 conquest, although with the restructure and introduction of Unranked/Ranked arena, in addition to hotjoin it's quite easy to dip in and out - play a handful of matches and have some fun.

Unranked also gives the same rank reward as Ranked matches, and also there is no Dishonour for losing connection in Unranked (I think), so it's well worth playing both for the enjoyment and for the item rewards which are so easy to come by.

WvW zerg fest depends on the server. Sadly being in T1/2 has its downsides - like huge blobs... although at least you'll always find roaming action (though mostly the same enemies - PU condition mesmers, thieves or whatever...). I've been tempted to transfer to a lower tier several times, but unwilling to pay the fee - I'll probably wait for the next tournament if they offer free transfers and move off Desolation to a Bronze tier server.

Yeah i meant WvW and Deso is the same as thats what i'm on. I remember when it used to be constant T1 then loads moved.
