Halal, is it meat you're looking for?

If there is popular support for a label showing the time of day it was slaughtered, why not add one? I doubt most people care about that detail though.

And the reason it affects me (despite not being religious) is because it's the slow normalisation of Islamic customs in the UK cultural sphere. I don't want halal to be the norm any more than I want veils to be the norm.

If you don't resist these changes, we'll end up sleep walking into a very different Britain.

And the irrational hatred and fear comes out.

What I'm worried about is the numbers of times I have to poop. Tuesday it was only once, Wednesday twice but today it is 3 times. At this rate in a few weeks I will be pooping continuously every second for the rest of my life:(

IMHO it's a strange coalition of militant vegetarians and racists just trying to pick a fight with anything Muslim as there's nothing good about industrial standard English slaughtering of animals to eat.

I really don't see a huge problem with Halal in most cases... we should look at doing something about the minority of slaughter houses that don't practice stunning but IIRC about 90% of halal meat is stunned.

I do think its silly that some places marketing 'halal' don't also offer pork (subway, KFC etc...) - its not hard for a Muslim customer to just select items not containing pork/bacon just as someone who's vegetarian, vegan, has a nut allergy can avoid certain foods too. Plenty of 'Indian' curry houses run by Bangladeshi Muslims serve alcohol along with their 'halal' meat curries for example... obvs Muslim customers simply don't order the alcohol... why KFC and Subway felt the need to remove bacon/ham etc.. when introducing halal chicken, turkey & beef just doesn't make sense.

There is an argument that even with stunning halal is dubious as the animal isn't killed by stunning and only loses consciousness briefly but I'm not sure of them impact of this - if they've had their throat slit and are stunned for 30 seconds then they're presumably not going to be particularly aware of much after that. If it is still a big concern then perhaps I will change my view but at the moment I think the French, Japanese and Chinese can be far more cruel with regards to animal welfare when it comes to food preparation than dem pesky 'muslamics' the daily fail likes to get outraged over.

I know right, Vegetarians in subway get asked if they want the staff member to change gloves. So Why can't this be done for people who can't eat pork.

I don't understand how so many of you say you dont care how the meat is killed. Your either very naive or very heartless

For those of you who say you dont care if meat is halal or not please sit through this video and say its OK.

I don't mind how the meat is prepared as long as:

a) The animal isn't subjected to suffering in the process - if it is then that's not really on.

b) It doesn't lead to stuff disappearing off the menu in order to pander to a minority. I happen to like bacon and ham in my subs and if others don't, don't order it. If you don't like the place serving it, **** off.

thats halal without stunning first though - which I agree should be banned but isn't reflective of the majority of halal meat in the UK

And heres some scientific evidence which I'm sure none of you muslamic haters will bother to read to prove that the Halal method is actually more 'humane' than the defacto captive bolt standard you rave about being so kind.

it really isn't if the halal method used doesn't involve stunning and its not just muslamic haters who have concerns about it

B: doesn't that apply to you too. Don't like that subways are not serving bacon, **** off?

And there's far more research on the other side.
Selective quoting by an agenda website, never.

First stunning should be mandatory in mass farming, then painless killing should be mandatory. There is zero reason to cut while they are alive.
