Half-Life 3 Rumour Mill

Been thinking about upgrading this year. Definitely will for HL3 and hoping the rumours are real this time.

I never finished Blue Shift & OpFor so will start the replays with that if it does get announced.

Calling it now, HL3 will be a 5090 launch title. Further Neural Rendering on the 5090 means you no longer need a monitor, you jack in to the GFX and the game is rendered direct to your brain for the ultimate realism.

It won't be Half Life 3. My bet is that it's a sequel to Alyx.

The 'unexpected surprises' will be Valve launching announcing a new VR headset with the sequel to Alyx been the launch title.

Don't know how long these things take, but probably coming in 2026 or 2027.

its going to be such a let down and disappointment when it does arrive. the build up and expectations most likely don't meet reality.
I'm just replaying Alyx at the moment and I can't see how anyone who has played it could say this. It's just so far ahead of what other studios are doing, in terms of production values and finesse.

5 years of work from that game takes you to something that could be every bit as revolutionary as HL2 was.

For VR yes, for a pancake FPS? Not so sure tbh.

im happy to be proved wrong. but i think because of all the ups / downs and hype i dont think it will live up to people expectations of what HL3 will or should be.

Alyx is a differant issue altogeather. its one of those titles that has withstood the test of time and be a marker for other games to aspire to in a similar way to Lone Echo.
im pretty sure valve mention HL3 is flatscreen.

you can spend 10years on making a game it doesnt mean its good or a success.

CONCORD as example

im hopefull HL3 will being something new and exciting and a decent story.
