That makes me giddy like a little school boy. Together with the relatively big uptick in activity from Valve last year with the huge HL2 20th Anniversary update, random TF2 updates and Deadlock stuff, I'm more optimistic than ever.

Yup it's got to be in VR now. If its pancake, it's a downgrade for me even with all the fancy pt etc.
Same happened for Tomb Raider for me. Played 3d vision on an oled like 10yrs ago, then when I played the latest and greatest in 2d it just wasn't the same. It was a downgrade, even if technically it had RT etc. Nothing beats immersion in a good vr game.

I think it will happen, 2025 is a nice number - and the decades of hype will create Valve INSANE sales, they'd probably make the best part of a billion off it - so I can see them doing it for that.

I reckon they will treat us to HL3 at GTA6 launch because the PC version of GTA6 will be delayed by 3 years as is classic Rockstar nonsense. Hopefully it steals away any potential PS5 buyers for GTA6 in the process.

Why not both?

What made Alyx so good was how well it made use of VR. But the VR mods of the earlier HL games are also good fun, and if Alyx can be converted to play on a regular monitor, why couldn't a new game be launched in both formats? Personally if it ever happens I will be VR all the way.
