Half-Life 3 Rumour Mill

I have a feeling that if HL3 released it would be supremely disappointing and better left unmade.
Kind of like movies with sequels that come out 20 years later and fail to hit the mark almost spoiling the original.

I guess this is one of the reasons for Valve's reluctance.. they would want HL3 to be spectacular and groudbreaking in some way.. and if it's not going to be that.. then they just won't release anything.. It's not like they need the money with the revenue stream that is the Steam store..

I just want the story finished off. I'd have been quite content with more along the lines of Episode 2.

Steam managed to deliver with Half Life:Alyx. Nearly five years after release it's still regarded as one of the very best VR games.

Indeed. There is a story to finish, so it's not as though they have nothing to work with and need to come up with a reason for a pointless sequel.

Yep, and I'm currently playing it through for the 3rd time in about 6 months, just 'cos!

I need to play it properly, I think I got annoyed last time as I seemed too tall in game, or short and wasn't sure how to sort it lol.

Can't say I've had that problem, though a few others apparently have.

finished black mesa then went through half life 2 and the episode stuck on trying to save the town from the walkers. once i have finished episode 2 will move on to alyx did play it before injuring my leg so hopefully i can finish it sitting down. last time i booted it up i could not figure the controls and was throwing my magazine at the enemy

Why though? Valve's track record is virtually all considered some of the best games ever made, or at least the best in their genre. Their last proper retail release (Alyx) is came out of no where, and is praised as pretty much the best VR game to this day.

The question of will it ever come and copium about its actual announcement and release is another story, but if it ever comes, Valve surely have the benefit of the doubt that they're capable of delivering a good game.

The VA who did some of the voices including Gman left a cryptic message on his site he did something similar before Alyx dropped so it looks likely somethings happening, my moneys on Half Life: Alyx2 and there being a lot of very disappointed people.

That article sounds like it was written by somebody with the reasoning of a child the reason of “the tech jump isnt huge therefore its likely to be HL3” is bizarre - this would make it more likely to be Alyx 2. Which would be, I hasten to add, bloody marvellous.
