Hanns-G HG281DP 28" Widescreen Any good, really??

Cmon owners we need more info :p An indepth review about its suitability for games, films, and general desktop shenanigans!

So you would highly recommend this Monitor? about to plonk some money down for a new one but not 100% what to go for :) its all part of a nice new Rig!

It doesn't have the best pic, make no mistake but! for its current price don't even think of it. Plus it has very low lag input. GET IT!

I am so tempted to buy this right now because of the price, even though I don't have the hardware to run games at 1920x1200!

Any good reason I should resist the temptation?

heres some pictures, please excuse the poor quality camera but you get the idea of the screen in different positions, looks much better irl.

the only trouble i can find is when your veiwing from below the screen, it appears a bit darker

Looks fine to me, I'm going from a 19'' Hanns-G which I've been happy with so this screen can only be an improvement.

 Its Huge! It looks really good in them pics mate.

What size monitor did you have before, how big was the performance hit when increasing resoultion?

i went from a 19" samsung so this looked really huge when i first turned it on. i dont get to much difference in performance my 8800 gts 320mb is just about handling cod4 in high detail 1920x1200 with 4xaa. i only other games i play are supreme commander and rfactor, they dont really take any performance hit at all.

I'm thinking about getting this screen too.

A review said the dark area's look bad (blueish) and color's aren't perfect but imo for the price you can't complain.
Also slated the fact it had no usb ports ( big deal, I have a usb hub in my G11 kb...) and they didn't like the design and in monitor menu, that aside it seems to have no real ghosting problems and it's good value...

Why the 30'-ers are 2x the price at least is beyond me...

Well I've just ordered one.
I was going to go for the OCUK 24" as it has a VA panel, although this has a TN panel I'm quite impressed with the viewing angles. My main use will be pc gaming, with the option of watching the odd film and possible future xbox/ps3 for the kids so with this in mind it seems to be the better option.
I'll post some pics when I get setup.
