Hanns-G HG281DP 28" Widescreen Any good, really??

Don't have a link to that wallpaper handy do you? :)

Nice screen, pretty good viewing angles for a TN, especially from above. FA looking nice there too.

Here's a few pics, can do some more if people want. Not really had a proper go with it, but first impressions are its mahoosive!! Had a little go in cod4 and it seems to be fine no lag or ghosting that I can see. It did have a single pixel stuck on green which went after a bit of a massage. Hopefully it will stay gone!

The only 2 issues I can see with going 26" and above it the viewing angles... but there not too shabby actually in those pics, looks like a bit of quality gone but thats TN panels for ya, still im dubious since if I was watching HD 720/1080p content on it would dark areas not be as good/detailed as say the newer HD TV LCDs like the Samsung Series 5-6-7 screens...

Thats why ive always thought go for a Hazro 24" updated panel and then a nice 26inch-32inch Samsung Series 6+ for HD viewing.

Thanks for the pics.... it does look great value for money.. if only I can keep my sensible head on and not spend £500 on a lcd tv.....

A 32" 1080P TV will blow you away more than the 28" Hanns-G would. ;)

Don't worry about 1920x1080 being stretched to a 32", I used to use a 37" as my main monitor and it looked stunning with 1:1 Pixel.

So you reckon a 24" hazro updated panel and a 32inch 1080p LCDTV would fair a better soloution for quality?

Yeah, definitely.

I now use my OcUK 24" as my PC monitor and have my 37" connected via HDMI for movies and downloaded TV, it works great.

Of course a 24" Hazro or otherwise is going to be sharper than a 28" with the same resolution and a TV is of course going to have more inputs and the luxury of a remote.

I am tempted to get this, anyone have any idea if my ATI X1950 GT will handle it for gaming or am I looking at a new card as well?

gone from a 15" crt to this (sorry took me so long to post ,no net at me new house yet)

love this monitor to bits, colours are vibrant. blacks are black. looks amazing, not seen any ghosting, watched plenty of hd movies and been gaming tf2 and cod4 at 1920x1200 on my HD3870XT (getting a 4870x2 in a few weeks when the price drops)

love this monitor. i might leave the missus and get married to it.

Just received my Hanns G at work.
The box has been opened and resealed, also the Hanns G Inspected sticker has been cut and a new one stuck over the top.
Not happy.
Been in touch with sales who then told me to ring tech support:confused: who then said that 'it may had come open and had to be resealed'. But upon further inspection it definately has been opened and resealed.
Sent webnote and waiting for reply
It concerns me that it has been opened and resealed as this would indicate B grade or a return, has anyone elses box been resealed?

Don't know if I should to ask for a swap for an unopened one, or wether to take it home and check the contents and power up the thing?

I received mine today and the box is exactly the same as yours. Opened and then resealed with another HANNS-G Inspected seal. This usually happens as the monitors are manufactured in Europe and are packed with a European two pin power lead.

When the monitors are received in the UK, Hanns-G UK open the box, check the contents, place a UK 3 pin power lead in the box and then re-seal it.
