Hanns-G HG281DP 28" Widescreen Any good, really??

Just got mine. has a dead pixel in the most annoying part..... its middle left centre :( dunno what can be done its this annoyign Green dot!!!!!!!!!!!!. My bad did seem a bit bashed tho

I had a stuck green pixel too. I used the end of a thin pen and tapped the pixel a few times and it disappeared! :)

Got one of these babies last week, and utterly delighted with it. PES2008 and FSX are fantastic on it, also watched a few films on it and well impressed. Upgraded from the OCuk 24" one, and found the picture to be just as good if not better.

The bigger screen has helped my axe wielding no end on Rockband on the 360 as well ;)

CoreKrogoth or anyone else with one of these: Could you post a series of photos from say 1.5m or thereabouts looking directly at the screen, from above, from below and from the side with some flat colour on screen and also some image on screen? Also, it would be good to see how a black screen looks with all the lights off at night (for film watching).

I would be very grateful if someone could post such images. The most important, for me, (as others have already been posted) are the from slightly below and the black screen in a dark room.

I have got a few for you but my phone is crap indoors.

Got one stuck pixal dead center on minem, running the unstuck progs atm. but one pixal in 2.3million isnt majorly noticable. film playback is very impressive in 1080p, games my gfx card have a heart atack in but worms world party looks cool :p As for work, theres no end of desktop space now. The colours are more washed out then my samsung but still finely defined

Its the camera picking up reflections off my keyboard (blue lights) and
my computer (green lights) there is some bleeding but its not that bad.

Thanks for the photos. It doesn't look too bad to me, viewing angle-wise. My MacBook screen annoys me so much because I can't even sit in front of it and see things properly most of the time and that's a 13.3" screen. I have to switch to my desktop (old 17" Samsung 710N) if I want to get any reasonable colour reproduction. And no doubt compared to modern screens that's a complete bag of crap. :)

I think philjohn was referring to the white light bleeding out around the edge of the panel, somewhat framing it.

My concern about viewing angles is because my screen will be on my desk and if I want to sit/lie on my bed across the room to watch a film or play a game or something, then I may be slightly below the screen. I suppose it can be tilted down, right? That would take care of it.

I think without paying a crapload of money, the backlight is always going to make black look rather grey in a darkened room so it's something I'm just going to have to suck up or to pay lots of money for an LCD TV for I guess. Assuming they're any better. I assume they are as I figure that's how they get their N-thousand:1 contrast ratio.
