Hanns-G HG281DP 28" Widescreen Any good, really??

Have a scan through this thread, it's already been done.
Indeed you are correct sir! :D

Could somebody please measure the width of the monitor for me? Going to buy one of these next week and it's going in a corner, so i need to know how far it will be from the corner of the room (how close it will be to me).

Thanks
Width is 665mm (LINK)

must have missed that thanks guys. Just one more question is anyone using the VGA (d-sub) connection for their pc? i was thinking i could use this with a dvi/vga converter and use the hdmi port for my dvd player. Or is it better to use the hdmi connection with PC?

I'd say that the digital signal of the DVI to HDMI would be better than the VGA connection. Is the DVD a hi-def model or just a standard DVD?

TBH you could just get a HDMI source switcher and connect them both.

It's not HD but i have it connected to DVI on the TV. I'ts the only thing i use this TV for so i am getting rid of it once i get the monitor.

Wrong forum really but can you connect component to vga with the dvi/vga converter?

Not 100% sure but i wouldn't think you could. I've seen vga to component adapters for projectors but beyond that i couldn't say.

Just so you know - HDMI source switches can be picked up for around a tenner.

Would be an elegant way of retaining the HDMI/digital connection.

GT Junkie did yours not come with the VGA-Component adapter?

Not sure - probably did if it's pictured there, i will check tonight.

Only using the HDMI cable at the mo and simply assumed the others would be bog standard audio, vga and U.S. power cables.

Looks promising for you there Keyser! :D

I've had my Hanns G 28" for 2 weeks now, other than the need to turn down the brightness out of the box i havent had to touch anything else.

This is in no doubt the coolest thing i have bought for my desktop ever, picture quality is beautiful, the actual quality of the product is way above what i was expecting and for the money i have no idea how they do it.

Get this monitor if your a gamer and you want to make your friends jealous.

I did a a white patch of pixels in the centre of the screen which were only visible when viewing from the left of the monitor and when the screen went black. Brushing my hand across this part of the screen to the right has fixed them. Loving the monitor now.

Ok should be getting mine tomorrow:D

I'm currently using my old CRT set at 1600 x 1200 85Hz

What settings should i use before i change the monitors over to avoid problems?

also what is a good way to check for dead/ stuck pixels (assuming they don't jump out at me).

Thanks

Should have time to finally calabrate the colors on mine at the weekend, anyone know any good sites to help me?

Not got 1 of those calabration tools, so gonna have to do it the hard way :p
