Harmless 39 year old alcoholic woman tortured and beaten to death by girls aged 13 and 14.

they certainly could do with being sterilised! last thing we need is these buggers polluting the gene pool

The fact delinquents like this exist makes my blood boil and in this kind of case I really would support bringing back the death penalty.

It's naïve (and just down right stupid) to go soft on criminals exhibiting this lack of remorse.

This +100.

The reason the world is such a mess is because we allow this trash to exist.

I suspect a lot of people on here have never worked with children at the less fortunate end of society. I'm not suggesting that their actions are excusable in any way but rather than judging things on face value, examine the reasons things like this happen?

I might be wrong but doesn't Scandinavia with their 'cushy' prisons have a lot lower crime rate?

It's a funny place. I've spent a lot of time in Norway and honestly encountered more crime than here in the UK. Oslo for example has graffiti everywhere! People speed like mad.
They just can't afford to get drunk so...That's probably why there are so many fewer violent crimes. Just look how much crime in this country is linked to alcohol. Remove that and I bet we look like a near utopia!

This case is extreme, regardless of how unfortunate of an upbringing someone has had, this is inexcusable.

I get what you're saying but there are lines you sim don't cross. Cold blooded murder and then laughing at it in the face of authority is one of those lines. Make an example of these two. Backs against the wall, couple of rifle rounds, mop & bucket, job done. Then make sure it's all over the news in case other young delinquents think this is funny.

Death too quick and prison is too good for them. This a family forum so wont divulge the living hell I would have for them. Disgusting lowlifes. What gets me is the way they found it funny and had no remorse whatsoever. Makes me sick to my stomach. Poor woman, RIP.

Why not tell us what reasons make young girls kill people.

Generally, all that would do is alienate people even more. Using fear to attempt to control people never works out well for those in charge, sooner or later.

Certain gangland member from the past have murdered people, probably had a bit of a giggle about it but now they are held up as some kind of heroes of bygone times.

Plenty of cold-blooded killing in horrific circumstances goes on around us all the time but is never questioned or stimulates such a vitriolic response.

Some people (not me) would argue that the victim was an ageing alcoholic, a drain on society and the NHS, not contributing etc etc so they have actually done society a favour by their actions.

Peoples attitudes towards human life and killing are very flexible. It's really quite interesting sometimes.

I'm not a psychologist so not really qualified to suggest reasons. People aren't always born psychopaths though, it's more often than not a result of the way they have been treated or behaviours they have learnt from others around them.

Given that these two were in care homes then they could well have been through some truly horrific stuff themselves. I've worked in children's social care in Leeds and believe me, it's no wonder that some of the kids turn out capable of acts like this. I'm not excusing it in any way, but I can see why it happens.

What's the solution? Better funding for social services and mental health would be a start, but even then there's no guarantee that edge cases like this won't occur.

As for the 2 girls in question, hopefully they'll be put away until such a time that they're deemed no longer a risk. They'll probably be out in 5-10 years though due to prison budget cuts.

Trying to argue that point is basically arguing you have autism/special needs.
