Brushed under the carpet? It was an international scandal with wall to wall media coverage, and an excruciatingly bad interview that left everyone convinced of his guilt.

It's ironic that the people condemning Harry and Meg are conservatives like robgmun, while the people defending them are those left of centre. This is reflected in the media as well; the conservative tabloids are ripping them to pieces, while the Grauniad is defending them.

I dunno.. the mirror was stretching it with some BS headline today that they'd somehow snubbed "Kate" in their message by only mentioning the Queen, Charles and William.

Yeah and it’s done. A few weeks of fairly mild press coverage really. Yeah they covered it because they had no choice but they didn’t really go after him, they didn’t go out of their way to find girls who were at the parties, there was the girl who said he had sex with her 3 times when she was underage in the US but she came forward long ago and all ended with an interview that pretty much confirmed his guilt. Because of who his mother is he has been totally let off the hook. Yet Megan is the one who has ruined everything. It’s laughable.

I understand that, I don't understand why they (or anyone really) care whatsoever, it's almost as bad as a people buying OK! every day to gawk over what B list celeb has said to A list has-been, who's in rehab again for minor avoidable addiction or whatever other pointless **** spewing out of people they don't know.

The only slightly justifiable issue here is that the Royal family has a measure of responsibility to the state and how we're perceived globally, but if it can get away with Prince Andrew doing whatever he want's with paedo sex traffickers, then that argument starts needing some extra oxygen to find Prince Harry or his wife in contempt for being fed up of a nigh homicidal press, which probably played an explicit part in the death of his mother.

Only way it works out in my opinion, is if you hate them having that position in the first place, I can understand that and agree with it, but it shouldn't be because of Prince Harry's decision.

But they're not going. He hasn't renounced his position. They'll still use their royal status, but now they'll be able to use it politically and for their own purposes since they won't be subject to the normal restraints. How much they do so remains to be seen.

It's a crap deal, IMO. All the hassle of being a celebrity with less money and without being able to even speak your mind. On top of that, he's a fifth wheel. It's not like the old days, when the young prince might become king. I don't blame them for trying to half and half it and I don't blame her for that. I get the impression he's been wanting to be semi-out for a long time.

Let’s just get rid of the royal family and their unearned privilege all together.

There we go job done taxpayer saved some money that can be freed up to be wasted elsewhere and everyone can carry on with their lives.
