Haswell -E Core i7-5960X, 5930K, 5820K specifications

it wont if it's like mine, because to last years it'll need to be very similar to the i5 2500.... strong as an Ox and dead easy to overclock, but no it'll be another Intel rip off, way too expensive only 5% faster and rubbish to overclock..... dont get suckered in like i was.

i got my i5 last night up to 4.4 by mistake, i wasn't even trying to overclock it, i was just fooling around in the Bios taking my first look at the ``Advanced Tweeking menu``..... i cant see my 4770 being as easy as this can you !!!!!!!!

right now it's at 27 degrees idol at 4.4....which is about 3 degrees cooler than the Xigmatek Aegir, which means the Dark Knight is slightly cooler than the Megahalems and in addition, it only as one fan at 1000 rpm.

Well my i920 D0 has been overclocked @4.2 since 2009 and still going very strong.

The i920 D0 is a legendary cpu, hence lots of people are still using them today.

That beats your CPU no problem in the longevity battle.

well bully for you :p

my i5 2500 needs overclocking to about 4.6 or it'll bottleneck the 7990

What ever the price I would be inclined to wait and let things settle until later next year.

yes, for my next rig in my sig i'm going to get rid of that cpu and get one of these new ones next year...... my cpu is worthless because i've lapped and lidded it, so if anyone is interested just contact me.

the mobo looks great for overclocking so i'll keep that.......unfortunately i brought the 4770 too quickly, before i really got stuck into the threads.

lets hope these new cpus are better than the 4770 or i wont bother

what about DDR4 ?.... not until 2016 at the earliest, because i think i'll switch back to AMD

i just hope my engine rebuild wont suck all my money so i could afford.
CPU+RAM+Motherboard bundle from ocuk( I hope they will have descent priced bundles like that)

well i've just decided to dump my i5 rig and go ahead and get my new rig working

i cant be bothered to repeat all this rubbish next year with the rig in my sig, but at least the hard drive is easy to swap over, it took utterly ages to get the 7990 working, the mobo just wouldn't accept it, and then windows wouldn't accept AMD Catalyst either........oh Wow, so fed up with it all

again AMD problems lol

yea they're pretty good, the hardware is dead easy to fit and a pc case dead easy to work on, it's the software that i hate, i'm too impatient i loose my temper with it.

the i5 is working perfectly now, it's just a bit stupid to have two gaming rigs at once

those bundles look good but you'll save money if you buy all the gear and do it yourself, i see they still use the Megahalems which is good, because my new rig has that too.

no, i put the blame on the Asus mobo, it's too old for the 7990 and had missing drivers, but the problem was finding the drivers online whilst the screen was exploding with pop up adverts and spam, i had to switch to google chrome to get rid of it all.

the Asus goes very well with the I5 2500, it's a perfect match

I'm looking to upgrade my rig soon which is used primarily for gaming and software development.

Is Haswell-E going to be worth looking in terms of performance at or should I be looking more towards Devils Canyon?

this one is pretty good, but i'm not 100% sure either, put it this way, i wouldn't upgrade from mine until i knew what the next CPUs are like, due out soon.

it's too late for me, but i also wouldn't buy the mobo/ram until DDR 4 is out..... luckily for me, the Gigabite soc force is damned good for overclocking, it has excellent features.... so i wont be outgunned for a few years yet, it's the perfect mobo for the 7990

my 4770k is definitely not perfect for overclocking, it suffers from heat issues, so if the next lot of CPUs overclock really well then i'll get one

If the 5960x can overclock to 4.5ghz speeds normally(and that post isn't fake) and the other CPU's clock to even higher core speeds then it seems like it would be worth it if you are able to spend that much.

yea if it's true !!! pinch of salt

but i wouldn't hold your breath

A quick question please:-

where's the AMD CATALYST SUITE menu button hiding in windows 8.1, i cant find it anywhere and i need make adjustments to the 7990

it used to be automatically on the desktop, but it's got Gaming Evolved instead

And I haven't had any problems, this really does annoy me because everyone will get issues at some point being with either Nvidia or AMD it just depends if you are unlucky enough to get the issues.

Though tbh AMD are more problematic than NVidia, When you compete at by price you usually tend to compromise quality.

Did I ever tell you about the time when Nvidia released a driver that stopped the fan on my GTX 280 dead and fried it within ten minutes?

Or the time my GF 2MX displayed artefacts from day one?

Or how about when the drivers were putting my 3rd and 4th GPUs to sleep after every loading scene. Or the red screens on my 670?

I've had equal problems with both companies. You go around as if Intel and Nvidia never ever have any problems whatsoever.

How is it in your black and white world? do you ever miss glorious technicolor?

Though tbh AMD are more problematic than NVidia, When you compete at by price you usually tend to compromise quality.

Though TBH they're not.

@Mal, is that the case in your sig you're discussing?

I have had the A10 in a box unopened since I bought it new on the bay last year. Just never got around to swapping it over from my v1000 case.

cheers, andy.
