Haswell -E Core i7-5960X, 5930K, 5820K specifications

@Mal, is that the case in your sig you're discussing?

I have had the A10 in a box unopened since I bought it new on the bay last year. Just never got around to swapping it over from my v1000 case.

cheers, andy.

hi

i got mine from a competitor, they have about another 30 left, it cost about 70 quid, mine is black and i've modified it quite a lot..... i might get another one for spares. i've removed all the hard drive cages and everything in the lower area too, i've fitted two 140 mm intakes on a modded front panel

the case looks great, really nice, but it's very old fashioned inside, so you'll have to remove all the cages.... you'll need a 4mm drill to get the rivets out, you will also need to cut slots into the mobo mounting plate and the panel it attaches to, to get the PSU cables in..... the 1000W PSU is a real sod to fit, so take care, the cables are a nightmare to bend around the panels..........but the mobo and the pc back plate unscrew and slide out the back in one assembly, so it's very easy to test the mobo as a separate ``work bench`` and then slide it back in !!!! this is a very clever idea

it only has one 120mm exhaust in the rear....nothing in the roof, you can not remove the roof panel, it's riveted to the end panels  so it's cooling is traditional, this means that your rear fan will need to be very powerful and efficient, so you can deffo forget a Corsair fan !!!!

but there's easily enough room in the lower separate compartment for Water cooling the GPU, because it has a 3rd intake fan down there  (not used yet)

the other rig i was talking about is a Cooler Master, the lian is way bigger.

Mine is one originally supplied as an OEM without any fans, it cost £30 incl. I have not had a look at it even, but obviously seen pics and reviews.

I intend to remove the lower drive bays and also most of the 5.25" support racks. It is very similar to the v1000 except being the right way around.

I also will be busy with the Dremel then.

I will also make a modded front to carry a 240 rad but leave the roof alone. Another rad will fit on its side in the base. I use Akasa Vipers as case fans.

mine is an OEM too, it has no lian badge........yea i brought Akasa vipers for it yesterday as well, isn't that odd !!! :D

the case also has no manual....no spares etc, but you know how to modify a pc so who cares !!!!

but the great thing is, it has a heavy solid front door, that you can soundproof on the other side.

What is the point of so many x16 slots anyway? I imagine it will help if air cooling the GPUs so you can have space between cards but is there anything else I am missing?

Quadfire, Quad SLI. Lots of X16 lanes. Remember, it clearly says Workstation Board.

add to that:- being an Asrock it'll either be just about ok, or a pile of junk

Silly boy. There's nothing wrong with Asrock boards. You just need to remember - you get what you pay for.

But bios support? they're in the top three IMO.

So is it 100% for sure September is the release date of the X99/Newer haswells-es?

Desperate for benchmarks and price tags no doubt like everyone else !

I would love to know too.
I want to buy myself a present for bday, in last week of September and 5820/evga x99 matx board and ddr4 are in my mental basket already, waiting :-)

From the look of it the 5820k will likely cost what the 4930k costs now (so around £420). The 5930k is looking like it will cost £600 or so and the 5960x £1000.

I could be wrong.

Yes, yes you are wrong, like you are wrong about most of the ASSUMPTIONS that you've made about X99, Haswell-E so far in this thread.

Unless you work for a company who have hands on experience of the platform you really shouldn't be so pessimistic and vehemently disparage something which, frankly, you obviously have no clue about.

yea both rigs are way better without ASrock....even the much older Asus board was way superior, far better overclock as well
In Asrock's defence, they have one of the smallest BIOS teams in the industry and Asus have the largest. Asrock fall 4th or even 5th on that side of things.
