Haswell -E Core i7-5960X, 5930K, 5820K specifications

Then have a conversation instead of trying to bait more arguments?

Why would I bait arguments? I just have my opinions, that's all.

If you mean me coming along and getting all excited over X99 then sorry that won't happen. You want to see me excited? wait until Intel drop a hex into a regular socket that people can afford and thus, become mainstream.

Until that happens? we won't see core support so excited or not these new CPUs and boards will be useless to gamers.

If people have trouble understanding that concept then whatever.

So then that sounds great. I think I will upgrade to it then!

So, now that I will be upgrading my CPU, from i7 920 to i7 5930k - I suppose I will not need to change my PSU? Will the PSU pull more power? I'll take the assumption that my 650W PSU can support it.

In my shopping bucket - I will need a new mobo, new RAM.

My rig is a ANTEC 1200, so hopefully it should be big enough to house the new mobo - there shouldn't be any size compatability issues.

The graphics cards I can move across without any problem.

Sorry if this question is a bit O/T - Can anyone suggest any good combination of motherboard and DDR4 RAM to go with the i7 5930? Are there any compatibility issues I should be aware of?

Worst that's too expensive post ever

I'm expecting Haribo as usual ;) you can open the box secretly and pull out the bag of haribo from the box (if you are lucky!)

So, if the release date is around the 29th - when will OcUK start listing pre-orders?

Get it delivered to your work.

8 days to go... :)

actually a good shout haha

I think I'm going to tell her to go have a day out with her friends and I'll look after the baby "because she works hard and deserves it"... mouhahaha (unless dpd decides to be late and she arrives at the same time as the box)

lol that's a win win. She will think you're a fab daddy and while you get all baby cuddles to yourself, you'll also get new tech. :D

ALXAndy, can't you just sum up your grievances in one post and then just leave it at that? does it really take 86 posts? whether it's intentional or not you've been a cancer to this thread.

Looks like the CPU's have popped up on amazon (US) for pre-order, unless they have been there for a while now and I just missed them.

Anyway, looking forward to OCUK pricing. Hoping the 5960x doesn't cost more than the already arm and a leg its taking.

dont buy anything till it's been on this forum for weeks and it's been overclocked...or not !

the cpu is not your priority, it's the damed motherboard  because if you get a buggy board it's a total nightmare, it really is bad news, i think mine is ok now

Thats the same boat as when people were looking at a dual core and wishing for a quad core, now quad is easily mainstream. Hexcore will become mainstream in time.

Correct stable platform is very important I agree. Most important infact.

No doubt, but at launch, your best bet is to pick your go to brand. Every board maker has had their issues with certain boards when lauched. The important thing is how long it takes them to get in the game and get it stable.

If I'm not mistaken, Asus have one of the biggest bios teams going. So hopefully they will be off to a good start, but again, only time will tell. I will be reviewing whatever I get, and hopefully more.

yes my Asus was fantastic, but the Gigabyte is too complicated and buggy for me.

e.g you adjust the fan speed on the cpu and it sais ``fan not connected``.... you give it 400 rpm at idol, and it saves it at 800 rpm, it's like this all the time, it just never ends.

it's great on Easytune and great on automatic tune, but very bad if you want to add a few manual settings to this, it then sais ``sorry, no can do, these auto settings are fixed, you can not adjust them``

you then go into full BIOS, yes but this for an expert only and it's way too risky to adjust anything unless you really know what you're doing.

the main reason for this is :- IT DOESN'T RECOVER WHEN YOU REBOOT IT, you have to remove the GPU, reboot it, turn it off, replace the GPU, it is an utter nightmare if you dial in the wrong numbers.....

if it went crash.... restart....crash.....restart, you wouldn't mind carrying on fiddling with the BIOS, but it doesn't; it wipes out the GPU every damned time...... it took 5 hours for the mobo to recognise my GPU this afternoon !!!

I'm sorry to go on, but i wish the developers were here with me to see just how bad it is

Got a question regarding higher end intel cpus in general ie from the x58/x79+.

Does the extra cpu cache give a better performance overall compared to say 8meg cpu cache of 3770k/4770k?

If any difference where is this seen? games or start up or multi tasking in general?

I never owned highend intel cpus so not sure on above!
