Haswell -E Core i7-5960X, 5930K, 5820K specifications

ALXAndy, can't you just sum up your grievances in one post and then just leave it at that? does it really take 86 posts? whether it's intentional or not you've been a cancer to this thread.

Do you know why Intel have so many sockets and so many products at wildly different prices? or why they're still holding onto cores like a huge dose of constipation?

Because nobody ever complains. Or they do, then they get swept under the rug by a tide of wide eyed addicts.

See maybe in the USA complaining is seen as something that you shouldn't do. Over there you're supposed to smile and say "Have a nice day !" even when you've just lost a family member. Over there you're never ever supposed to think anything but positive.

Now here in the good old U.K I'm allowed to complain. I come from a nation of moaners and complainers, and, if more people were like me we wouldn't keep getting screwed over all the time. But no, not allowed to point out the glaring flaws in Intel's marketing strategies or complain about the massively inflated prices 'cause you know? that's bad.

Only people who are buying or are eligible to buy are allowed in threads like this, with the occasional showing up of an OCUK employee to strong arm people like me to make sure they get the sales they're expecting. Gibbo has paved the way for the inflated prices this morning, blaming it all on the exchange rate. So they're all set.....

I'll probably end up banned, because that's what happens to people like me. But whatever.

As for 6 cores becoming mainstream? Intel have been selling six core CPUs for years now. Yet, here they are still reserving 6 cores for the desktop market even though they're now making what? 20 core Xeons?

WE are the fools. They don't get away with this in the business sector it's only us who would be stupid enough to buy a CPU, then buy another one 5% faster six months later, then buy another one 5% faster with a new socket six months later.

Until people like me stand up and say "Hey, come on now you're taking the forking wee" (putting it politely) the more it will continue.

As for cancer? tell me, have you ever had a loved one or close family member die of cancer? have you watched it?

Given your liberal use of the word I highly doubt it. So, I'll politely tell you to go **** yourself.

ALXAndy, I think we all understand how OcUK works but we're here to talk about the processor not the politics of everything around it. I found one of your comments amusing, so I put it as a signature :)

Anyway...going back on topic....

From a purchase perspective - since I got a dual graphics cards running on a 2560 x 1600 monitor for gaming, the best choice of CPU would be the 5930K over the 5820K - I've read in the graphics card forum that the slots on the motherboard running the lower version CPU doesn't support 16x on both PCI-E channels - so, would that mean that that people with dual graphics cards only really have two choices, the 5930K and the 5960X without sacrificing performance? I wonder if that means that the minimum spec Extreme systems from OcUK will only use the 5930k?

Makes me laugh how he just doesn't understand it or anything.

We get the server markets casts off cheaper, what he's asking would make things ten times more expensive for enthusiasts. And also as above, there isn't any competing products at that tier so the prices are what the market will allow them to charge - Intel rarely look to see what rival prices are anyway. It's never changed, so why complain.

Just shhhh!

Everyone's been either directly or indirectly affected by cancer, but that doesn't mean we can start acting weird when people use the word.

MMJ's use of the word makes sense.

In google definition, one is ;

an evil or destructive practice or phenomenon that is hard to contain or eradicate.
"racism is a cancer sweeping across Europe"

I will go out on a limb here and say that I expect Intel have a pricing agreement signed by everyone who sells Authorised Intel products.

Usually the way the retail world works.

What this means to you Andy, is that OCUK has no choice what they sell Intel CPU's for. They sell them for what Intel say they sell them for. That simple.

SO don't go blaming OCUK for high prices.

As for Intel not releasing the best now... well that is just consumerism. Why take huge steps every release when the consumer is happy to pay big money to upgrade? You simply make more money per generational release.

I quite like Andy's posts, some of them have very valid points and sorry but some a bit of a rant, but he reminds me of me, but an extreme version of me and thats never a good thing lol.

Sorry mate I don't agree.

They base their prices on what their competitors are charging. Each company has some one that basically spends all day going around the competitors looking at their prices. There are usually rough guidelines but there's all sorts of excuses for ramping prices. The main reason is usually that it's a new product, and thus, you want to catch out your early birds. I've been in the business so I know exactly how it works. If you're not competitive people look elsewhere. We all want the cheapest..

I've seen prices change daily, usually across the board.

Any way, TBH? this is not really a debate we could discuss here any way given the nature of it. It would end in tears :D

To those who would like to see me stop posting here, I will say this.

Get a grip.

Every one is entitled to their opinions. Mine may be harsh but hey, at the end of the day it's supposed to be a free world with at least a modicum of what we could class as free speech.

Some can say mine are right, some can say they're wrong. That's what is so wonderful about our world.

I don't resort to insults and I tell you what, there are a lot of people out there who would actually agree with what I say, barring their profession and where they work.

I stopped doing that because it's stressful living a lie. Some people can easily just spend the day agreeing to things they don't actually really agree to, some can't. I'm of the latter disposition.

Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with being a yes man. End of the day if you can do that and keep your mouth shut you'll do well.

Everyone's been either directly or indirectly affected by cancer, but that doesn't mean we can start acting weird when people use the word.

MMJ's use of the word makes sense.

In google definition, one is ;

I know perfectly well what it means, and it's a vile word used to describe vile situations, like the one above.

Not to describe people who have different opinions to you. I would never use that word on any one.

And if that's my limits and I'm the resident miserable git then it's not acceptable. Had that been said to some one else he'd be on a ban. It's only because it's me that it's allowed to remain.

Vendors like intel absolutely have a hold on prices.
Why do you think OCUK's shield bundle with the discount disappeared within minutes? Because they don't have full reign.

.

Your tears. I am in the retail business too. I know how pricing agreements work. I am sorry you don't "agree" but the thing is, pricing agreements are factual. How the CPU's are priced is not a factor - the fact they ARE priced by Intel and everyone is forced to sell them for that price is THE point.

Don't blame Gibbo because Intel have set prices.

You are entitled to jack. Freedom of speech does not apply to loudmouths on forums. And it doesn't protect you from the consequences of your speech either.

And we aren't in America so unless you can convince Obama there's oil under OcUK HQ then you're barking up the wrong tree anyway.

OK well I guess when they release we will see what they are supposed to be sold for on Intel's ARC.

Let's see if retail prices are the same :)

You need to find Intels UK distributor price agreement, which will have adjustments for shipping, customs etc.
