Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. Haswell -E Core i7-5960X, 5930K, 5820K specifications

x99 is socket2011 '3', so has a different pin layout to x79.

A x99 cpu will not work in a x79 board, and a x79 cpu won't work in a x99 board.

so basically you're ******

it's DDR 4 all or nothing, there's no mix or match and it doesn't look like many CPU coolers will fit either, unless you use the furthest RAM slots, but you might be ok, it's hard to tell..

Only 1 day to go, looking forward to the reviews. Can't afford to actually move to X99 yet so will have to enjoy this vicariously through the rest of you for a while :P

bit late to the party here guys but I don't suppose theres any mention of someone offering a MITX x99 board is there?

We'll never see one.
With the socket size, power circuitry required for S2011 and 4x DDR4 Dimm slots needed for quad channel, it's just not doable.

I'm gutted there will be no Rampage Gene, that was the best we could have hoped for in mATX.
