***Haswell -E Owners Thread***

Yeah managed to shift it all in the end, I'm of the same thinking, this new system should see me through for a few years at least with just gpu upgrades.

Can't wait to get it all installed!

Yeah was keeping an eye I have noticed the higher end intel mobos and CPUs always hold there weight.

Tbh plenty guys out there happily running 920s and 3770Ks still lol

Can't go run with 5820k/5930k or the 8 core one really.

Price wise I have noticed some places are very expensive but looking around not much price difference over the lowest to say the 3000mhz ram, ie more then affordable.

Yeah am sure not much difference or anything that can be seen even its for this reason am tempted to just place the order now but ideally would be great to wait 2-3 weeks for better ram to hit stock and perhaps add an Nvidia GPU into basket too.

Read on another forum that a guy did X99 on the cheap and bought some of the crucial 2133 ram of which he has clocked it to 2933mhz cas16, pretty impressive for the price ;)

Could be worth a punt, not much info around regarding ddr4 but from what i am seeing so far most sticks(hynix) will all do around the same, nothing is standing out other than price!

What do you think would be better in terms of a render machine, an i7 5960x at 4.5ghz or dual Xeon E5-2630 V3, 8 Core at 2.4GHz?

The Xeons, even running on all cores they have a 2 bin turbo so it's 16 cores at 2.6GHz vs 8 cores at 4.5Ghz, that's more IPC for the Xeon setup (other factors are the same as they're basically the same CPUs just the i7 have overclocking and the Xeons have multi support)..

Just powered her up. Beast!!

I only unpacked my MSI X99S Plus, checked the cpu socket and no bent pins, so looks ok.
And all black board looks absolutely gorgeous :D

a slight adjustment to the cache is now scoring 1828

You've certainly got the pick of the litter in that fella! Mine's still sitting in its box on top of my Rampage V waiting for CPU waterblock and RAM. Out of interest can you tell me the serial number from the box? If it happens to be the same as mine I'd be happy...yes I know silicon lottery etc...but I could hope!

Its a H100i cooling it.

Batch number, no idea.

But ive been playing with the Vcore and found 1.28V seems ok

Nice healthy reduction in temps too.
