***Haswell -E Owners Thread***

I have the Ud4, my 12v cpu from psu is just two 4's joined to form an 8.

FYI (and all other UD4 users) p24 of the manual states "When you overclock the CPU, make sure to connect one end of the included 1 to 3 power cable to the ATX_12V_2*4 power connector and the other three to the power supply to ensure the system is provided with enough power"

I hadn't come across one of these 1 to 3 power cable's before which is why I asked. It may well not be necessary just putting it here for feedback , experience reasons (and also to prove to myself I didn't imagine it :) )

I haven't used it yet, but Im also not going to be pushing my setup until I get a CPU water cooler at the end of the month (and hopefully some longer 2*4 / 8 pin cables).

Cheers for the info Frank, not heard of anything like that before but it's got to be worth a go.

I'm not even sure I have enough cables tbh..

Edit- Had a gutsful of this board now, it's going back, just not happy with it, think i'll get the SOC instead.

Found the sweet spot for my setup.

Leave all settings on default 'Optimized'.

Then change all cores turbo to > 4.4Ghz.

Then just set voltage to 'normal' +0.0200v.

Gives up to 1.35v.

No need to change anything else !

Awesome :D

IntelBurnTest all cores under 80c.

Pffft. Do Very High or Maximum (or go home) :p
Standard doesn't really stress it all that much.

Boom what's your ram running at? You using xmp profiles?

It sets the Vcore just like so.....

Om at the end of my teather as well and I havent even started clocking my 2nd board

Still plenty of A2 and A9 errors as well as random crashes ( some even during bios flash to F9a which I havent been able to complete)

Ive come from a Z77 Haswell i5, 7970 with 16gb, 1ssd and one br drive which was completely stable ( and running for months) on a powercooler 950w psu to this board and 5820k with the same componants ( well, 16gb of ddr4 of course) and its an absolute nighmare.

Starting to think its the psu but I find it hard to believe there is SO much diff in power requirements between the two ( ive even tried a 6870 instead but thats no different)

Its also that even today Ive been into Win 8 today a few times ( even though mere browsing BBC site was dog slow on a 100mb connection) and then get a random bsod. Which doesnt sound like a psu issue to me

I feel your pain, getting exactly the same issues and codes.

It's going back if I can't make any head way tomorrow.

Btw I get the slow speed issue too, just happens randomly.

Just had some major instability, even when going back to default optimized settings. Seems to have calmed down now lol. Had to power off for a bit. Everything back at stock. Think I'll only OC for benching.

Seems to like the memory at default setting rather than XMP.

I'm sure these teething probs will be worked out with later bios updates.

Same, hopefully we'll get fixes asap.

I've had my x99 system for about a week and haven't been able to use it since I installed the OS because of work. It's killing me

I think I'll wait for Xmas when BIOS' are sorted
Sorry to hear about your problems chap. PC building is becoming like PC gaming where we pay to become beta testers. I guess that's the price you pay for being a true enthusiast and wanting new hardware early

No, didn't even realize there was one :p

Did you use that power adapter thingy that comes in the box or did you just put normal 4 pin into the mobo power?

Think yur talking about same thing I noticed om p24 I think of manual - a three way 8 pin adaptor? Gigabyte say its necessary for oc' ing cpu
