Yeah I shall stick it at 3000mhz and the CPU I'm aiming for 4.6 :)

Same here bud! Let me know how you get on, had issues trying to get mine running @2800 let alone 3000mhz.

That maybe down to not being a fresh install though, can't wait to get home and get stuck in.

Best of luck clov!s, hope it's smooth sailing for you.

Some guidance please

I have my 2nd X99-UD4 coming back tomorrow (hopefully) after RMA'ing the 1st and wondering if every x99 motherboard uses a multi ended 12v connection, the one right next to the cpu, which requires all three ends off of it to be connected to overclock?

(It might be a X99 thing by default or something quirky to the UD4, just wondering)

Lovely score for 5820k :-)
I am still nowhere near building the system, waiting for suplies to build my case :-)
And EVGAboards will come to UK soon, so I am returning MSI board and waiting patiently.

Fresh install of windows, things seem better, but still having issues accessing the bios :(

Pressing DEL on post results in a quick screen flash with A9 in the corner, then a blackscreen.

Anyone else had this issue with the UD4?

Cheers bud. Good luck with your build.

Yeah, the joys of new motherboard early bioses. I'm on 'F9a' seems to be the best so far. I have to frantically press 'del' on reboot to get into the bios :p It'll get better.

Definitely, its stressful but it's still very early days yet.

I've quit for the night now, but before I shutdown I had a go using the strap or cpu host ratio @1.25.

Set the cpu multi to 4.5, cpu voltage @ 1.320, and selected xmp profile 1 but used the multi to get it to 2750mhz.

Not touched cache ratio etc, ran cinebench and got 1297, really chuffed with that considering it was quick dirty overclock.

Seems setting the strap to 1.25 as suggested does make a big difference to stability.

there is a link to the descriptions in the early pages of this thread.

I had it (along with A2) and it took over 20 seconds to get the bios flash screen to appear even though fans were spinning. Suspect yours is an RMA

My fresh Win8 install never worked properly either, even Catalysts wouldnt install (although base driver did), and video in general was never right

edit - Here you go

My issues were on F7 (before F9a was released) but it was clearly faulty irrelevant of the bios imo

I hope this isn't the case for me:(, i can get into the bios, just got catch it right.

Fingers crossed i've found the issues with my boot/bios problems.

seems my Hdd has died, heard it clicking and since removing it all seems fine.

System is currently @4.5 @1.320 with 125 strap, ram is @2750 using XMP profile one.

going to run some benchmarks to test.

It's funny you should say that because the same thing happened to me on Thursday. Wasn't booting etc until I discovered my HDD had died also.
