***Haswell -E Owners Thread***

Would love to have an excuse to upgrade to this new platform but just for games and the very occasional video editing, my AMD 8320 just does fine

X99 and DDR4 is for epeen and benches mate. No game today needs that much power. But I will also join the bandwagon in a few months. I'm currently focussing on work and gym before coming back

Didn't turn up :( hope the delivery man isn't a hardcore PC gamer :p

I paid your delivery guy £100 to postpone your delivery haha

Kinda related but anyone planning to use M.2 x4 with X99 ?

I read in the Asus manual you must use a 40 lane cpu to maintain higher performance, can someone explain please? Does this mean the 5820K will hobble it?

I don't think so. All that means is the M.2 x4 will use 4 PCIe lanes which will be taken from your 28 if using 5820. Not that this will hobble your performance unless using multiple card configurations. The 5960X having 40 lanes has more lanes to 'spare'. At least that's the way I understand it.

I am guessing because the 16/8/4 config relegates SATA bandwidth to less than 16 lanes (32Gb/s) when a discrete GPU is used. Because E chips have no built-in GPU, it can be assumed one will be used and thus only 12 lanes will be left free.

edit: actually this makes no sense...

I have the h100i so not that different from the 105, with 2 corsair sp fans it kept my CPU @ 26 idle and around 68 under load :)

Also the 2011 fitting works with x99 :)

That's why I have a huge basket of water cooling items ready :D

Haha, nice one.

This new project of mine is gonna be nice :D

So far,

Intel i7 5820K (Corsair H105 Cooler)
Gigabyte X99 Ultra Durable 4
Corsair 16GB Vengeance LPX DDR4 2666Mhz
MSI Geforce GTX 780 Ti Gaming OC
Samsung 840 Pro 128GB
Barracuda 2TB
Cooler Master: 850W Silent Pro
Cooler Master: CM 690 III

Man it's gonna feel like forever waiting for the new parts to arrive :D

Very nice :) doing a build log?

Cheers, no not for this one. So busy for next couple weeks I won't have much time. Gonna try and put in the bits when I get a chance. Not sure when it will be done, CPU not in stock either so might be week after next. When not so busy will post some benchy's etc when all finished.

Looking forward to seeing other peoples setups and results. Guessing people still waiting on parts.
