Hazro - Any Update?

The 30"-ers are back in stock :)

Very tempted to grab one of these, even though £700 is probably more than I should be spending right now. Anyone want to persuade me either way? :p

Also, I was wondering, what is Hazro's policy on dead pixels? For a monitor like this I'd prefer to have no dead pixels, but OcUK doesn't have a dead-pixel check service.

Standard ISO dead pixel policy, so a 24" can have around 6 or 7 before being accepted as faulty.

Thanks. I guess I'll just have to cross my fingers :(

One more quick question; OcUK quotes the monitor as having a 6ms grey to grey response time, with 12ms black to black, whereas TFT central quotes a 12ms grey to grey response. Does anyone know which of these is correct? Related to this, how badly is the degree of tearing affected by response time, when running games with vsync off?

Thanks!

I'm trying to get hold of 2 black HZ24Wi monitors, but nowhere has them in stock. Hazro themselves seem quite vague as to when anyone will have stock of them. I'm thinking that I will just go for the HP LP2475 instead. Any thoughts?

Yeah, the 24" black model has been delisted. You can't buy that anywhere anymore. There are still a few silver models left though.

Hazro are holding back stock until they can resolve the firmware problems, no doubt. You could do far worse than buy a couple of LP2475W's instead. Damn solid monitor, in my opinion; just be sure to read into the colour uniformity issues beforehand. It's all a bit of a gamble with the current batch.

hmm, mighty tempted by a 26" as a post-Christmas prezzie to myself.... especially as it isnt that much more than the 24"....

Looking to finally move on from my WGX2

I make a lot of use of screen space atm, trainee teacher so i do a lot of powerpoint/word/pdf type stuff. And i like to game if i ever have any spare time!

Okay, took the plunge and just ordered the HZ30W. It's due to arrive on Friday. Will let you guys know how it goes!

Hi, Duff-Man

Is it possible you could test some standard DVD and HD/Blu-Ray filims on your HZ30W, and let me know how they look, if you can? It's just that TFT central states that you may have problems with watching films on it due to its Massive 2560 x 1600 resolution, see below:confused:

Thank You!

TFT central Hazro HZ30W Review
The following summarises the HZ30W's performance in video applications:

Massive 30" screen size and widescreen aspect ratio make it great for watching movies, and bigger than many LCD TV's

Massive 2560 x 1600 resolution support for high definition content (even supporting 1600p content which is apparently the future of HD!)

The resolution can be a problem however since any SD content (and even 1080p for that matter) content needs to be scaled up, and the resolution means any imperfections and pixelation are accentuated even further. Not a good screen for watching anything from close up

Wide viewing angles thanks to the S-IPS panel, good for several viewers watching at once

Decent black depth from this panel, especially once calibrated. This is usually a weak point of S-IPS, but in the case of the HZ30W, black point is good. This ensures detail in darker scenes is not lost

Panel uniformity is good, with only a slight leakage along the bottom left hand edge. Not something you notice in movie viewing, even with black borders from DVD's

HDCP support over the dual-link DVI allowing encrypted Blu-Ray and HD-DVD content to be played back properly

Lack of any additional interface options is a shame. There's no HDMI, DisplayPort or Component here for connecting external devices

Noise is noticeable due to the screen size and resolution, and particularly apparent with low definition content. You need to sit a fair distance away to get away from this. HD content still looks very nice though, even from up close

Whats the main differences between 26" and 24" hazros, is the 24" better?

Main differences are the 26 has Wide gamut, Additional polariser.

The 24" has a glossy panel (like NEC 20WGX2) - Some people think glossy panels add some depth to colour and picture, others don't like the reflections behind strong light sources!

Apart from that they are both largely the same.

Certainly will do :)

I'm not sure, but from that description I think it's just a warning that viewing relatively low-res video on an ultra high-res screen will accentuate the difference. I doubt that a standard-def DVD viewed on an ultra high-res 30" screen would look any worse than the same DVD on a 30" 1080p screen when viewed from the same distance. I'll definitely check it out for you though!

Thanks MRK. I have worked with Wide Gamut on the 2408, I must say a little thrown off but can work with it, as long as I have the right software. Its probably the future, but it is a little annoying to see such strong windows gui colours.

But what does the polariser do? Do these features make the 26" a better monitor? What known problems with the 26"?

Sorry for all the Q's, if you can point me in the right direction would help. Thanks

I'm not 100% certain on the 26" bugs having not had one but I think some of the guys here have mentioned them in previous pages!

The additional polariser aids in minimising the IPS glow from various angles IIRC

Well, it turns out that I'm not getting my monitor today (HZ30W). In fact, overclockers cannot tell me when I will recieve it. I just rang them, and they told me that they do not have any stock for the HZ30W, and that they have no idea when they will recieve stock

I'm pretty irritated by this. The monitor has been out of stock for weeks, then showed up as '10+ in stock' on Wednesday. Apparently this was "a mistake" as they have not had any stock for months  It's a bit annoying that ocuk have effectively taken £700 from me for a non-existent product! I'll be cancelling the order sharpish, and I'll probably order a different screen. Poor service, ocuk. Not what I expected.

Has anyone heard from Hazro yet? I'm still waiting to get my 26Wi screen off for the firmware upgrade but nothing from them for the past 2 weeks and I sent 2 web notes. I don't see how some people get phone calls from engineers and others don't get anything! I don't want to arrange a date for pickup without knowing when I'll be getting it back! I suppose I just want reassurance that they are still in business!

edit - ignore this post. I was being stupid. Driver-level scaling is available via the nvidia control panel, clear as day. So no problem.

I just read a comment somewhere that the Hazro monitors can only display their native resolution (or integer reductions in the number of pixels in each direction), due to the lack of an internal scalar chip. Now, I know that they don't have 1:1 pixel mapping and other advanced features, but surely they must be capable of handling resolutions other than the native?

If I set a 1920*1200 resolution in a game, surely I can still display that on the 30" Hazro somehow? Doesn't the GPU do the upscaling? I'm a little confused... It would be impractical to require 2560*1600 resolution for all games.
