Hazro - Any Update?

I went back to the Hazro after not liking the wide gamut and text sharpness on the HP but version 2.1 firmware makes the Hazro much better from my findings.

My only dislike now (only) is that the bugger is a menace to clean because of the glossy panel you gotta watch for smearing when using a cleaning cloth, I don't like any kind of smearing, it is my OCD!

Well it's good to be posting again!

Monitor is still rocking btw, I have to say I am very pleased with the adjusted backlight now - recalibrated a few more times to check for consistency and it's now settled on a solid 0.42cd/m2 blackpoint after 10hrs+ of non stop usage.

BTW someone above wanted to see a HD movie photo, I shall use BluRay Matrix again :)

I've not noticed any Snow since getting the monitor back but if I do I will try HDMI and let you guys know my findings.

A little funny thing which I found quite nice was that when I tried the Ergotron arm previously I managed to get the stand off but cracked the plastic sticky faceplate on the stand handle (it covers the screw holes and generally improves appearance of the top).

Anyway Hazro bundled another one with the monitor with a note saying "Spare!". Didn't ask for one but got one anyway, nice of em :)

Welcome back you naughty boy :)

Just a quickie.
I take it you can calibrate it ok without any gradient banding ? As in http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/gradient.php not vertical like pre firmware upgrade.
Other than out of the box settings and standard vista srgb icc I cannot seem to calibrate and not get some gradient banding. Its not major ( purple bands in the gradient ). But this is still ver 2.0

Just checked my OSD and it indicates that I have 2.0 firmware - is there any differences between 2.0 & 2.1.

It seems odd sending away your screen for the upgrade only to have different versions!

Any insight?

Weird! On the Misc tab in the OSD mine shows "HZ24W ver.2.1" - are you saying your one came back as a 2.0 ?

Yup both before and after calibration no banding at all which is great !

What method are you creating the ICC profile btw? I would recommend using Matrix based profiling as that minimises any banding that is attributed to LUT based profiling. If your software allows it of course!

in menu under the misc section. In the input select. if you have the option for s-video then its ver 2.0.
If its not there then its 2.1 but the ( display version ) hasnt been changed

I`m using the software that came with the spyder 2pro. I also tried coloreyes demo with like you say "matrix" option selected.

As I say Its not major, If I sit back 4 feet or so its no too noticeable, just at normal distances I can see bands of pinky purple in that grey scale. It seems that if I touch the contrast level at all then this is when it starts.
Your ver 2.1 what out of the box luminance values have you got ? this ver 2.0 has a white of 328 and black of 1.13 cd/m2. Its when I try to get it down to a more comfortable level that the banding starts

49 brightness, 30 contrast is all I adjusted on the 2.1 and the software did the rest!

White luminance is 178-190 depending on what brightness value you like the feel of most. Black remains 0.42 now at any of thes ebrightness values which is good as it means details should remain visible at lower brightnesses.

Yes, on the misc tab it says 'HZ24W ver.2.0' and I do have the option from input select for s-video.

So, does this mean that I would have the same display version as someone with ver.2.1 but with those that have ver.2.0 have the s-video option?

I don't hook anything external to my screen and know very little in this regard - what would s-video offer?

Is there any way to change frequency of the output for ps3?

Kendo, s-video is pretty useless really not too much to worry about unless you have like a camcorder or something that has svideo output!

No idea and that's the problem :/ It's strange, I wasn't getting it then today it started, tried different cable but made no difference.

Think i'm going to have to send it back and choose something else

looks like you have got the ver 2.0.

Do not select s-video it`ll leave you unable to select any input. Fortunately there is a way out by doing a factory reset ( while holding down arrow, power off ) . but best not to select it in the first place.

that should be the only difference. I know the backlight has been reduced further on the later ones coming back. but thats not a firmware adjustment. so may have been all ready done on yours

Hey Rajveer,

Spotted the Optix XR too - what does it come bundled with exactly and is it boxed as new or just OEM?

Wouldn't mind picking one up myself! :D

gt

It's boxed as new and comes with a CD with "Precision Calibration for LCD and CRT Displays", which I think is EZ-Color and is apparently a bit ****. When I get the monitor back though I'm going to give ColorEyes a shot and see how it configures!

Anyone else getting Green snow over HDMI on PS3? Monitor breaking for me really, can't use powerstip to fix that :/

I get it on the home menu and on the black screen before the game loads up, have yet to see it in-game though (tried various colours with GTA4, pro evo, etc.) so hopefully won't come across it otherwise it will be a real disappointment for me.

The software which comes with it is very basic. It doesn't allow you to choose a colourspace to calibrate to, for one thing :( I'm presuming it's sRGB, but I don't know for sure.
It also doesn't give you any measurements so that you can be confident in it. I'm looking for alternatives, but I don't have any budget for it at the moment.

BTW - it comes with a sheet saying how you might need some workarounds for installing the DTP94. None of those worked for me, but on their website, there is a newer driver which worked first time.
They are called the "unified drivers" and are here:
