**HAZRO HZ27WA & HZ27WC ARRIVING SOON INCLUDING NONE-GLASS VERSIONS!**

Many new TV's have a glass front and the glare really isn't so bad.
My college spent a small fortune on mac pros and their cinema hd screens, along with a few extra screen because they're very good quality for the design students.

The Apple Cinema screen uses the same LG panel as the Hazro so if that's any indication it shouldn't suffer that badly from glare. Also Hazro stated in OCUK that there's an AG coating on both the Glass and Non-Glass monitors.

I think the AG comment is a slight mis-quote on Hazro's side, seen as their own website doesn't mention anything about an AG coating. And claiming something is glossy and anti-glare is a slight contradiction in itself surely?

Also, the glass is uncoated so will reduce transmission (from the panel) and induce surface reflections on the outside. It's effectively like looking at your monitor through a window. It will be easier to clean and glass is hard so it won't scratch as easy as the panel surface, but there are no image quality improvements from having a sheet of glass in front of the panel itself.

Hum... the downsides are a bit overkill there dont you think? Why would they even choose to ship their screen with glass. It doesnt make sense to me

Why?

People want and it and like it. The apple cinema hd screen has glass as well.

I've used on and I fell in love with it at college. It also didn't suffer from glare and reflections everywhere like DarkBahamut says it should.

It also didn't look as if I was staring at it from outsite a window.

Considering Hazro use the same panel as the cinema hd screen and also have a glass version it should be just as good all while costing far cheaper and still having 6ms response time if you want to game on it.

It's untreated glass so it will cause all of those effects. I can go find the figures if you prefer but i believe it's something like an 8% reduction in transmission and a ~4-5% increase in reflections, plus then with a chance of internal reflections between the rear side of the glass and the panel itself. Then factor into that the reflections you already get from the glossy coating.

It may make your monitor look expensive and nice, but from a performance point of view then there are no gains to be had from an untreated glass fronted display, so i simply can't understand why people would choose an option that reduces the quality of an otherwise excellent panel?

Love my Glass C version, was gona get another glass one but will wait till the price is back down.

Von Pluring, does the non glass one look as fancy as the glass one?

I'm still doubting this. Hazro originally intended for the screen to be glass only. The only reason a non glass one was made (and they didn't like it) was because of users complaining of dust behind the glass before they used proper dust sealed rooms. I don't see why they'd even bother making the glass one if it only reduced quality.

I've worked with optical grade glass and plastics for over 8 years and i can assure you there is no image quality improvement from using a glass fronted screen.

I can wholly understand why Hazro make it, because they'll make whatever they think will sell best, and claiming you have a glass fronted screen 'Like Apple' is a great selling point and i'm sure it will shift a lot of screens. Hell, look at this thread for example. People saying the glass one is better because Apple do it? It's actually quite depressing people believe that.

I've said it before. If someone wants to hit me with some hard science/facts on why the glass helps then i'll happily admit that it's better, but i already know that isn't the case and you only need to look at what happens to light as it hits and then travels through glass to see why it's not advantageous to image quality.

Please, pictures of them side by side so I can decide by myself with them in the same environment.

Sent the glass version back as it had quality issues (dead pixel and dust).
In terms of look and colour I find them equal.

In the end I am sure you will be happy with either choice but if you are asking me there is no upside with the glass version.

When did you order the glass version? (As if the date is close then dust is still an issue and that's probably made my mind up)

Well, upsides is it would just look damn cooler and would look a bit more expensive.

No one said that.

I myself said I have Used an Apple Cinema HD screen and I Personally loved using it.

It was better then the Dells we use to have, as such Hazro use the same LG panel as the apple one. So it's it's even roughly the same, I'll Personally enjoy using it.

Since it costs far less then buying the apple cinema HD screen.

Just because apple did it is no reason to buy it. I'm buying it based on past experience.

I think I've switched my mind now. Deliberating on the C non-glass version (monitor would face centre of my room with the 3x 402 halogen light source, which would probably explode with reflections). And I think DarkBahmut is right about the glass, although does it say on Hazro's site that the glass is untreated?

Any last opinions to sway me into a buy? Need to get it ordered by the end of tomorrow if I want that nice offer price on the non glass.

Only thing I don't like is how the bezel isn't flush with the screen. At least on the glass version that would be sealed. On the non glass it sounds like crap could build up down there. :(
