Helldivers 2

Is there anything out there that gives a break down of each mission?

Joined a random 1 earlier but I could not we could not figure out what needed doing to complete the objectives

Mission objectives are top right once in a game. Then use the map to follow the orange icons (main objectives). Plenty of other things on the way of course.

There's only a few variations really, as TriedandTested says the main objectives are orange and the secondary ones are light blue. Once at the site its normally either blow stuff up or use the terminal and some interactive objects in the area until you complete the objective. Some stuff that needs blowing up requires a hellbomb, which will be a new strategem in your list when relevant and in the right area. Depending on difficulty level and the ability of your squad you can either book it between the main objectives and extract or try and complete the secondaries + any other points of interest before the timer is up. The longer you are on the surface, the more frequent the enemy attacks become so its a balancing act between clearing more stuff (and getting more exp and loot as a result) and having a successful extraction.

In matchmaking the quality of the round will be largely dependant on your team's ability to move in the same direction and not get distracted by killing every enemy (or each other...) Clear objective, move on. Kill only what's needed to get to the next one. It's better to dodge patrols and avoid getting bogged down, they can call in reinforcements which waste valuable time.

Don't be fooled by player level, a decent player at low level can be far more useful than a high level who buggers off across the map on their own.

It’s fascinating reading this thread as I don’t quite know what to make of it as a non-player. I wish there was a demo or something as I’m loathe to spend £35 on it and then discover you do need to do it multiplayer. Not so much having a bad squad as I’m the one that always runs off and does my own thing. :D

Not played it but noticed youtube etc suggests "solo player build guides" for this game

Honestly, at higher levels solo is going to be tough and you'll miss out on a lot of multiplayer bant.

CD keys £26

I've yet to have a decent game of this with Randoms. Maybe I'm just unlucky.
I rarely play with randoms but the quality seems to have gone done over time over the last week. I'm also seeing a whole load of real low level players trying to do the 7+ difficulties now.

Remember everyone, level only matters up to 20. It is very, useful to get to that though. :)

Bought yesterday, best shooter I have played in a long time, cross play is good with ps5. Having great fun playing with my nephew. Have done a few challenging missions as a 4 team which were ok but finding them difficult in a pair, still won a few though. Not trying hard for a while until can regularly do challenging.

Seen a few bugs, one mission I could not respawn even though beacon was placed and another was I could not call stratagems - may of been due to me alt tabbing out and back in.

That's a mutator on the robot missions called scramble, makes things very hard work!
Haha that's awesome, so it was a robot not a bug  yeah you have to check what colour the ball is before you chuck it near you. Blue good red BAD. Great game, currently playing suicidal and farming pink samples. Can't wait for them to add some more stuff to the game. I've had a few missions where the games masters have adjusted things and it makes things very interesting.

If you buy it through steam and play for under 2 hours and within 14 days you can request a refund if its not for you.

Its on CDkeys for £26.99, this is where I got mine from. Save some money but no refund option (unless there is an issue with the key etc)

I hadn't realised about scramble either, makes sense now!

For those worried about buying it, if you have friends on steam with it - go for it, if not then yeah random groups can be a little hit and miss but you can always add more OCUKers to play with :)

Really want to give this a try. But One of our usual gaming crew is on a old gaming pc that badly needs updating. But would it run this?

He's using a i5 6600K and a 1070ti Anyone using anything close to this and can tell me how badly it performs?

Cheers

It should be all right, recommended is 2060.

Its his CPU im more worried about its pretty old now and from what I could see a 4790k is min spec. I did have a read the week the game came out on reddit etc and performance seemed all over the place even for people on very modern hardware.

Was that just teething issues/launch bugs and its all running better now?

If he's playing at 1080p then getting 60fps should be alright. There are some scaling options in the graphics menu too (quality/native/performance etc.) that can be used to make things more manageable as well as just playing at low settings.

One of my mates plays with a 1080 (although he has a slightly more modern cpu) and he has no issue running at 60fps on 1080p.
