Help for long time existing customer but new to forums

i think theres more to it than just 50 posts, im sure there a lenght of time aspect to it, ive seen multiple newbies spamming hoping to get to 50 posts:rolleyes:

Its a pretty decent solution to the bots problem IMO. I would assume its pretty short term, I dont see overclockers doing this all shipments in 2021

Exactly. Hopefully a combination of gamers getting cards, stock improving, LHR cards thwarting miners will all help reduce the prices and scalping. I think though it may go on for a while yet.

Oh bloody hell. So I’m screwed then. Take about alienating a huge part of there customer base
The number of codes available is very small compared to the demand. I've been a customer for over 20 years so twice as long as you but I don't assume that gives me a divine right to be ahead of people in the queue.

You could argue that a competitors free delivery scheme is even more alienating because it requires membership and activity on a random forums about audio visual equipment. At least with OcUK there is a clear association with the shop. Deals for forum members have been around for many years, if people are lurking they would be aware of this.

FWIW the 50 post limit is way too low as that's something look and think "that's achievable with a bit of stealth spamming across different forums" whereas 1000 posts is more of a barrier. Personally I wold have gone either 1000 posts OR 1 year plus membership but I guess that's quite hard to administer.

If the offer codes were opened up to long time OCUK customers who weren't forum members, they wouldn't feel that sense of loyalty so more would get scalped. That's my opinion anyway.
Why would someone that buys pc parts with OCUK for years buy a card he/she's been waiting for just to sell with profit? And stay without the card. I don't understand such thinking/stand.
"That's my opinion anyway."

Unless you are looking to try to get access to them 6m/1yr away, I wouldn't waste my time now/stealth spamming to get visibility of the vouchers; membership time will also be a factor.

How do you know said person needs the new card? They may already have a capable card.

You don't. Just like having "Wise Guy" rank doesn't mean said person holds any wisdom.

I'm sure that some scalpers are also gamers. So a history of genuine purchases isn't proof. It's not easy.
True. Just like you can't be sure few of 1000+ posters are not scalpers.
In retail and trade - the best customer is the one that spends a lot money over long period of time. Not one that bothers staff with silly issues and give comments about how you're running your business or whom you should service.

Yes but several graphics cards purchased with voucher codes have ended up on ebay the same day. Graphics cards requiring codes advertised in the Members Market and purchased by people with over 1000 posts. I think some of the people who did it were banned. My way of thinking is based on facts.

Hi, I have a long purchase history with Overclockers, going back ten years and have brought a lot of stuff on my account. I didn’t realise but the forums accounts seem to be a separate entity to the main Overclockers account, which means despite my history, I’m am seen as a new member to Overclockers as far as the forums go, which then limits me to be able to get involved in Overclockers new graphics card voucher scheme.

Can anything be done about this? I mean I’ve spent thousands with Overclockers over the years?

thanks, sorry if it’s a big of a newb question

I get what you are saying but its not about what you have spent. Its about forum membership and being part of the community. Why should someone get first dibs because they have been able to spend a fortune but not bothered with the forums when that might mean someone who lives paycheck to paycheck, has only been able to buy a few bits here and there over the years but posts everyday and enjoys helping people out potentially lose out because of it?

I'm not having a go there but its not about purchase history. Its about being a forum member and interaction. Regardless of account being linked with forums, you still have not been posting on the forum so its not like there are 100s of missing posts that have not registered here.

Do you not realise that OC are actively trying to help members like yourself who've been here a number of years but don't have MM access by drastically reducing the post count of the voucher scheme?

How do you know how much high post count members spend?

It’s replies like this that are the reason that so few people actually post on forums. I never claimed to know what any individual had spent or claimed they hadn’t tried to help other customers.

From my own experience normally considerably less than 1% of customers have ever posted on a typical companies forum. My point was simply that whilst it’s admirable that they are helping forum lurkers because that’s all they can do, it’s going to leave 99% of loyal OCUK customers out in the cold. Yes they have been trying to help other customers for 6 months yet they have also been clear during that time that the outdated website and forums prevent them from doing so.

Ah, smartarse comments from someone who can't quote properly. A word of wisdom for you, incorrectly quoting posters can cause a lot of grief........

I joined many years ago and have a terrible post count. I come to these forums to get informed on topics and products I am not an expert on but others may be and give me insight in to my next purchase.

I just don’t want to have to post for the sake of it so hope they find a way to let long term lurkers get the same benefits as the posters.

if not then I may get lucky in 10 years time…
