Help for long time existing customer but new to forums

Ah, smartarse comments from someone who can't quote properly. A word of wisdom for you, incorrectly quoting posters can cause a lot of grief........
Fixed. My bad. Haven't looked at nickname, just profile pic. You all look so much alike. In future I'll be more careful - I will note that you have 416 posts more than him. THO it means you're more valuable OCUK customer. Is my logic right on that one? Since it's also important to you I would like to inform you that you made new 14 posts in last 24h. Definitely all of them were kind, helpful, and brought a lot to this community. Now speaking of grief.....

Why would someone that buys pc parts with OCUK for years buy a card he/she's been waiting for just to sell with profit? And stay without the card. I don't understand such thinking/stand.
"That's my opinion anyway."

Because someone could make a big profit scalping it while they use the card they already have. Anyone can say they are an honest gamer, best customer ever, spent millions with OCUK, etc. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people out there that will say anything if they can make a buck off it. And there's plenty of bots out there that don't care, and just buy everything they can find.

It’s replies like this that are the reason that so few people actually post on forums. I never claimed to know what any individual had spent or claimed they hadn’t tried to help other customers.
It was a genuine question because you've here a long time but not posted much. You probably missed the previous forum wide voucher that was abused by the scalpers. That's the reason for post counts and membership length. The forum has had lots of new members joining in the last couple of days looking for vouchers. OC are genuinely trying to help people like yourself.
their only option is to target their prolific forum posters for deals over their best customers.
I'm not going to apologise for calling you out on the above statement. You have no idea how much "prolific forum posters" spend at OC. It comes across as petty and unnecessary as I said above, OC ARE trying to help posters in your position.

You are coming across as very bitter now. These vouchers are aimed at forum members and its got nothing to do with how much you spend. The people who post a lot could be spending just as much as you so why should they lose out to you because you feel you are entitled to have one? Ive already said this but regardless of what you spent you have not posted in the forums before when a lot of other people may not of had the funds to spend big but have enjoyed and contributed to the community.

I'm not bitter - I just read his posts and it felt like a low level "in ya face" mockery.
I'm not entitled to anything here. Also neither any of you are.

So if I would use similar thinking I could assume all of them will be scalpers - they just buy one cheap and sell it for a lot more. STONKS!
And my favourite line is "That's my opinion anyway."
It feels like I'm in some stupid loop with you people. Enjoy your gpu's!

BuT muH EbaY FeEdbAcK...

All these "I've spent over 5k" new accounts, course pal, so have lots of us but we've also contributed to the community.

I'm in the same situation as you. I've bought some components before but never registered to the forum. Just hoping OCUK have enough stock to keep the promo going for longer period of time.

I can't help but wonder where all these supposed big customer/ long term lurkers motive was for suddenly creating a forum account the day of the voucher drop was hmmmm.
I think limiting it to long term active users is best even if it means I miss out.

You are both of those things its just you have lack of self awareness.

The problem you have is you think spending a load of money (you would say that) entitles you to getting a voucher without the forum posts but you seem to think the posters who ARE entitled to it dont also spend a lot of money.

Ive spent £1000s over the years but I also contribute to the forums like an awful lot of people actually do.

I used to be in the same position as you where I had spent a load of money but could not access the members market because I had not made enough posts. Do you know what happened? I made loads of posts complaining how it was not fair and.... no I didnt. I interacted and eventually I got access. Any system will have unhappy people who feel they should be the ones who benefit from it and dont, you just dont like the fact that this time you dont benefit. We have people here who have helped other people and contributed to the community so why should they lose out because you want the reward without the work?

If you have been such a loyal customer for so many years how come THIS is the first time you are now making an effort to interact? Give over man.

Well said and thats a grown up attitude to take. Just a shame not everyone is as level headed as you are.

Something to bear in mind with linking the forum account to the shop.

That doesn't affect the grpahics deals, it's for free shipping, and there is no way for the forum to know how much/how long you've been a customer of the shop because the "link" is one way and just the store software checking your registration date and post count.
Any sort of allowing people into the deals section based on store accounts would have to be done manually and would be very time consuming both for the store staff, and the admins on the forum as it would require looking up individual store accounts (can only be done by store staff for obvious reasons), then a forum admin finding the users forum account and manually changing access permissions/forum user group - this is not something I can see the store wanting to do because they're already snowed under trying to sort out orders, and it's not something that is really feasible on the forum side due to the time per user it would take (especially as most of the forum admins like myself are not ocuk employees and have limited time we can spend on such things - we don't have the time to do potentially hundreds, or thousands of users).

Question you have to ask yourself if you are long term lurker. If you bought a GPU in the next deal (which you will if you have more than 50+ posts if OCUK plans go ahead) will you continue to become an active member or disappear into lurkedom again.

100% this. Or lets say you decide to sell it? Will you put it on the members market seeing as you made such an effort to gain access to it or sell it somewhere else to try and make more of a profit from it?

That is my worry tbh. It's easy enough to get to 50 posts without spamming but its even easier to drop off the radar after that. I think the 50post is too light.. maybe 250 at least or a cashback type scheme where you pay for the card much higher than msrp and if you are still active post 3 months, you get your money back.. dunno if that would/could work

:cry: i cant help laughing but the last couple of days these folk come crawling in expecting oc to hand over a gpu, and its the first question they ask:cry: please sir i joined today, can i have a gpu please:cry: or please sir i spent 50k with you, so can i have a gpu, its comical

Yeh I could rack up 50 posts quickly, but then I read that they will be looking out for people doing exactly that and will block them, so I cant just do 50 posts or I’ll come across as a scalper just trying to access the codes. So I don’t know what to do really

Contribute to the forum, this forum is huge and the topics vary you can talk about computers, motors, gardening, relationships, stocks, cooking and more is it would be easy to participate and contribute as there is something for everyone here and logging on a couple of times a day for five minutes is pretty easy to achieve and over time the post count can quickly naturally add up and you may find yourself enjoying the community and spending a lot more time here and even meeting other members in real life too.

Very true Its not hard to do 10 posts a day, especially in a topic you enjoy. Before you know it you have got 50 and hey you start to become an active member of the forum......

Thank you for low-level psychological evaluation. Sounds like something I could discover after reading Paulo Coelho books.

I bet you don't know why companies have loyalty programmes. To them you're just a profit. They don't pay salaries and bills with number of people posting random stuff, quite often doubled posts, because it's too hard to use edit option.
And yeah, I read some of posts of people that tend to brag about community - most of it is just gibberish one liners.

Ive spent £1000s over the years but I also contribute to the forums like an awful lot of people actually do.
Now, that sounds like you are "entitled". You'd better watch out. You might get schooled here by some members of "community". (sic!)
Instead of spending money, just increase your counter of posts. You might be then worthy of respect of some of 'Wise Guy's here.

No, you weren't. You don't know my position. You think you do. But oh well you're wrong.
"reward without the work" - We have different opinions what reward is. I will move on with my life I guess. How dare I spend my money instead of posting one liners and mocking other members pf this community.

If you have been such a loyal customer for so many years how come THIS is the first time you are now making an effort to interact? Give over man.
My loyalty to OCUK is shown with my wallet. I don't buy stuff to support forum community - just a company. You don't represent OCUK. You're not the staff or owner. If I would want to interact with right people I would use support system.
