** HERE COME ASUS WITH THEIR 4K 28" OFFERING!! **

Yeah that's the same boat I am in. It's going to be a shame going back onto the old one while I wait for a working replacement. So with these is it best just to go direct through Asus?.... Well I contacted Asus and the guy on the phone sounded a couple of brain cells above comatose. After asking for serial number he asked what brand it was.... So after getting nowhere with them at all contacted ocuk and was sorted in about 30 seconds. I knew there was a reason I keep buying from here :-D

I got one of these monitors delivered today for work use and have been having the exact same problem with the DP losing signal. I have eliminated the popping sound by muting the audio in the monitor menu.

As a test I have been using 1920x1080 resolution and so far it has not had the loss of signal yet. I will test at DP 1.1 and in HDMI to see if the signal loss occurs. My theory is that it only occurs in DP 1.2 mode with 3840x2160 @ 60Hz. If it is a simple driver/firmware problem then maybe a very prompt Asus update will save me having to contact Overclockers for an RMA. I must admit if Overclockers are having to foot the bill for all these returns I would not be a happy Gibbo. :(

Edit: I have tested with HDMI, DP 1.1 and DP 1.2 all at 30Hz and there were no problems with signal loss. The signal loss problem only seems to occur at DP 1.2 and 60Hz refresh. Can someone else with one of these monitors please verify these tests please? At least we can help determine if it is a driver or a hardware issue when set at DP 1.2 @ 60Hz.

I have added a custom resolution of 3840x2160 @50Hz using Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) and so far so good. Obviously this is not an ideal solution to this serious problem but at least I am not stuck at 30Hz.

Can Overclockers please advise if we should wait for a fix from Asus, or is an RMA from OCUK the only viable/best option?

EDIT: Just had a loss of signal black screen at 50Hz. I'm afraid it is RMA time and possibly a DSR and I would expect OCUK to pick-up the cost of the return. Very shoddy work and monitor from Asus, stay clear everyone.

One thing I could not get to work was the Asus monitor driver on the asus product page as its a whql for win8 not 8.1 so I was stuck with Generic PnP monitor

I got that to work by using Win 8.1 test mode. You can then choose your own driver for your devices. The driver installs fine but the signal loss still happens. I will contact OCUK and arrange an uplift of the defective unit. I will not be wanting a replacement though. This is clearly a design flaw from Asus.

So far I can't find any word from Asus about this problem which is even more frustrating. And they know nothing of it apart from fact you posted the forums and some of us have been on the phone with them.

As Whyscotty said these are so new Asus do not have a database with known issues and as early adopters of new technology you always run the risk of problems

So I contacted OCUK and I was advised that I should contact Asus support to see if they can provide a solution. Unfortunately Asus support were atrocious. The guy himself was as helpful as he could be considering Asus couldn't track my serial number, or didn't have a PB287Q model listed in their database.

I phoned OCUK again and they arranged a collection and a full refund. I can't take a chance that Asus will rectify this soon and that a replacement will have or will develop the same problem. Then there is the very poor Asus support to consider. :(

OCUK have as ever been professional, helpful and totally outstanding. Thanks for your help in this OCUK.

Hello There,

I have alerted Gibbo to this issue yesterday so we will be in correspondence with Asus to see what the hell is going on with them.

If anyone else has issues with them feel free to post in the Customer Service Forum and I will sort

Just give me a shout peeps.

Bailey

If I were to order one of the next batch to Ireland, would you or Asus also arrange pick up if it has the same issue?

At any rate, I hope this issue is sorted asap, and AOC also don't have the similar one.

Installed latest driver - 337.81

Fixes:
- Fixes half display or no display on Dell UltraSharp UP3214Q and UP2414Q LCD monitors
- Updates Watch dogs SLI profile
- Updates Wolfenstein SLI profile
- Adds 3840x2160 resolution with SLI on the U28D590D and selected UHDA monitors
- Adds SLI and multi-GPU configurations support for single tile monitors

I had it on cf 290's and a single 290 and a 7970. So amd cards were also having the problem. Mine also gone back so can't test any more but hope to hear what Asus say about it. Hopefully it is just firmware update or a select batch that were not quite right. I also had the popping with no amd drivers installed while I was switching versions
