Here we go again - Clattenburg accused of racism

I really don't think Chelsea or Mikel would make this up. Nor do I think Battenburg would be as naive to call someone a Spanish **** or refer to Mikel as a Monkey with obvious racist intentions.

Maybe he did say something that was misheard ???

If not then the it shows the world of football has gone bonkers it really has

Pretty much what I think, but I would say that the less likely of those 2 scenarios is Clattenburg making it up tbh. Surely a ref would not be stupid enough to say anything like that with all that has gone on recently!

I would find both hard to imagine though really.

So sad that for 22/7 (the other 2 hours being when the matches are on) football is dominated by all this bull. We have 2 hours of good football a week which is ruined within 5 minutes of full time by one **** story which them dominates the headlines for the next week. Really beginning to hate football, I'll watch a match but apart from that I loathe the game these days. :(

I agree and I don't think there's going to be any way of proving anything was said or not so fully expect no charges to be brought against Clattenburg.

Exactly, what about it?
That had nothing at all to do with Chelsea and there weren't any allegations made by them, it was just from interview with Terry, keep googling.
Players saying things and a club making an official complaint are vastly different.

It's not the first time that Chelsea players and staff have made up allegations against officials.

Agreed. Really losing interest this season and last.

I can't be the only one that thinks in a heated atmosphere that players of different nationalities might mishear the world "Mikel" as "Monkey", not sure what regional dialect Clattenburg may have either. Both are two-syllable words M-Ke- for starters.

I can't see how there is any way clattenberg would have been so stupid as to say anything racist to any of the players.

Chelsea's captain is currently banned for racist language against another player, what better way to divert attention from this than to say there were two incidents against them this weekend.

Maybe the FA should say they have disciplined Clattenburg behind the scenes but will not be releasing details of the punishment.

While I hope it is just this - the thing I struggle with is that Mikel has been in England a reasonably long time, so I struggle to see how he would make this kind of mistake (even in the heat of the moment).

I understand Mikel was the original player to report it - rather than just the target for the alleged offence.

Something said to Mata (who I understand was the 2nd player to report something similar) , as he hasnt been playing in England that long , a mistake like this is slightly more understandable

I dunno, I've lived in England all my life, am a native English speaker and I've still misheard things people have said in a quiet room from mere feet away on multiple occasions, never mind a football pitch with 40k screaming fans all around me. Certainly if they are from a region with an unfamiliar accent to me. If everyone else on this forum has heard everything 100% correct in the past 30 odd years, then maybe I need my hearing tested, but I doubt it!

Had he allegedly called Ramires a monkey, I'd find that a stretch, but Mikel.... if someone said to me pick a player from that match who's name sounds like Monkey, he'd be first on the list.

Just looked up his details and he was born near Newcastle and also lives round there now, so not having heard / remember what his accent is like, assume he has at least something of a Geordie tint rather than speaking the Queen's English.

Of course, just responding to speculation here about what was said to whom, for all I know the allegations could be about something else entirely.

At least one good football match is ruined per week by officials also, hence my recent enjoyment of NFL much more, football is a joke with a bunch of inconsistent refs/governing bodies/players who are pussys/divers (yes Suarez) and terrible coverage

interesting to see that cole, terry and lampard made a similar complaint about Graham Poll a few years back before withdrawing it
Had forgotten about that

Clattenburg is racist, he discriminates agains any team without Manchester and United in the name. His shamefully biased performance was even more blatant than when he disallowed spurs' goal against man united when it was 3 yards over the line. Still, he has impressed his boss David Gill and will now be protected. Im beginning to think our referees are more corrupt than incompetent.

I can't see them sacking him, even if he said what he's accused of without any recorded evidence his assistants will just take his side, it will be Chelsea players' word against theirs and we all know how that will end up.

The FA will just announce that all communication between the officials will be recorded in the future and then bring Clattenburg back to help United win the title. :p

I think what the likes of tennis, cricket, NFL etc. have done with technology is a great thing it's a shame football is still stuck in the 19th century.

Makes it easier for FIFA/UEFA to control the game, see Barca Chelsea 09, if there's evidence of corruption that is one of the best examples.

His boss is David Bernstein, the errmm former Manchester City CEO.

I'd have to question why he would want united to win anything.

Or how a club with no money manages to afford all these bribes.

The current Man united chief executive is the FA vice chairman, he is high up on the FA board and its a clear conflict of interest. It was clear that the officials were going to do everything they could to help man united win the game against Chelsea. Overall the extra protection and dodgy decisions that always go man United's way add up over the season. Funny how man city and Chelsea both end up playing with 9 men recently.

Jesus Christ, I cannot believe that some people actually believe the bile they post on these forums. Get down your local supporters shop they do a one size fits all in Tin foil hats.

The reason why people like David Gill(MUFC), David Bernstein(Ex-MCFC), David Sheepshanks (Ipswich), David Dein (ex Arsenal) are serving or have served on the board is because of their expertise in football administration and not self serving bias towards their club.

But if you really think that their is influence on certain high profile games from within the FA on high to the match day officials then please do share your dossier of evidence rather than your stupid tirade of mindless, ignorant and idiotic posts. Bear in mind that in order for the FA to be complicit in such a rigged game then Phil Gartside from Bolton who is also on the FA Board would have been involved, hang on they got relegated, better chalk him off. We had better get rid off all the County FA Chairmen who make up the remainder of the FA Board who incidentally are all from down South as well as surely they must have been involved in a such a conspiracy

In the absence of any real evidence you can always fall back on false arguments without evidence to justify your position, well done.
