Heroes of the Storm

i got valla as my free champ.

as for mounts and gold it's a poor effort you get 4k gold in about 4 hours of playing.

and skins I'll just play the champ to level 10 for skins (which is a nice feature)

Sorry what? Look how popular LoL is and thats the casual version of dota. No reason that something even more casual than LoL cant be popular.

Um. LoL is the no. e-sport at the moment. It's not a casual version of anything and it has more hardcore players than Dota ..or any game for that matter.

As for this game, it'll probably flop. I'm not seeing anything done better than what Dota and Lol do.

LoL is casual...just because they have a huge esports scene does not mean that the game is hardcore, it's easier to learn than Dota.

I really doubt this game will flop, the fact it's a Blizzard game alone means it will have a pretty huge following, and from playing the tutorial etc, it seems good, I think people will find it easy to get into compared to LoL/Dota.

I remember people saying the same about Hearthstone and look what happened there.

I found this game enjoyable for a short amount of time. It's a nice and casual moba which can be fun.

It not really comparable to DOTA or LOL imho. Those 2 are mobas on a completely different level.

That said, I can see it being a popular game with blizzards large following and due to its simplicity it wont exclude players like DOTA and LOL can.

LoL is a bit more casual friendly than Dota but it is not a casual game, I think you need to look up on the definition of a casual game.

HotS is MOBA, it doesn't do anything LoL and Dota can't do, which means the established games won't lose players to this game. The Hearthstone comparison is flawed, there was no popular card game at the time Hearthstone came out so it filled a niche which, along with the mobile market, explains its success.

LoL can be a casual game if you want it to be, I happily logged on every few days and played a game just fine, that's pretty casual to me?

HotS is definitely more casual than LoL, at least at the lower level of play, there is less skill required from what I've seen so far and who's to say people can't play multiple games at the same time?

As I said the fact it's a Blizzard game will give it a decent following and the fact it's casual will help even more, it probably won't get to LoL's level of popularity but that doesn't mean it won't be successful.

Match time is key for me, most games of HotS seem to be under 30mins. I loved playing LoL but the 45min plus games just didn't fit into the session time I had to play.

I've been playing it an awful lot lately. It's now my go to moba, absolutely love the map mechanics and the combat just feels better to me.

I rate dota way above lol but find this a good medium between the two. There are still a few balance issues at the moment. Stitches, Valla and Tychus are the 3 top tier heroes imo, Stitches is just brilliant.

Compared to what? Compared to DOTA/LOL Heroes is in a different league entirely.

Are you saying they are better or worse? the heroes look to have nice detail to them its the environment that looks bad to me. But having not seen it in the flesh i dont want to judge it.

That's a very good point, sometimes I don't have a full hour so a shorter game time is welcome with me.

I've never really gotten into LOL or DOTA but I fancy giving this a try to see if it can get me into the genre. Don't think Blizzard have ever released a game I haven't enjoyed so I'm willing to take a punt on it.

Yeah I had an 11 min game earlier, everything seems to end around 18-24 mins in which is pretty nice. Really enjoying it though, just wish gold was a little easier to get or heroes were cheaper to unlock. And really need some sort of chat history ingame. Seem to miss everything people say.

People asking about the graphics, I think it looks pretty good at max settings, for this type of game with Blizzards art style. Good enough for me at least :)

Gold seems a little slow to get for my liking, I guess they want people spending actual cash. Wouldn't surprise if values change at some point, at least I hope they do a bit.
