Homosexual Colours

Perhaps I should have made clearer that that the Straight behaviour is more common, being not limited to just one day a year, and seems far more tolerated than that of their Prideful brethren.
The point is that one annual event is getting criticised over behaviours for which an entire ongoing culture as part of wider society is infamous. It's a double standard.
Surely the more appropriate approach is to tackle the behaviour itself throughout society, instead of homing in on single instances?

Where is the double standard? I still don't see the point you're making AFAIK Greek and Spanish residents aren't exactly fond of public sex in their resorts or excessive drinking, though most of it does take place at night.

It just seems like whataboutery.

Yup...apparently it's a thing. Colours can be gay. How can a country/religion be so insecure?!

To be fair, the LGBTQ community has spent the last few decades insisting that the rainbow is a queer symbol. So the Saudis can hardly be criticised for arriving at the same conclusion.

Slamming one group of people for their bad behaviour, while ignoring other groups that are doing the exact same thing.

That doesn't make any sense, why shouldn't they be ignored in this thread?

In other news, I think Columbian drug cartels are bad, and Hitler was bad too but I think for the purpose of this thread they can be ignored right?

I really don't see what your point is here?

Do you think other drug cartels that do the same things are also bad, or just the Columbian ones?

But a rainbow pencil isn't a gay icon, it's just a pencil.
Also the rainbow doesn't specifically symbolise just one thing, that's kind of it's point. It's made up of many colours and all are equal.

This is why we will constantly struggle for equity across the world. If something as benign as pride month causes so much furore we clearly have a long way to go... At least most people in the West are relatively open minded. We still have a long way to go till we are near the sense of equity as the Netherlands or Canada though.

You say that but look at the fuss some have made here. This thread was originaly aimed at laughing at the backwardness of Saudis, at least I think it was. Yet reading a lot of the posts it seems the same view is prevalent here. It is shocking.

It is quite sad and disappointing. I wonder how much of it is just to wind people up or how much of it is an implicit bias.

Wow. This is an incredibly stupid comment.

Go on then Tony, quote some posts, we'll wait.

Yes, but the rainbow is a gay icon, which is one of the reasons why people put it on merchandise. Like pencils, and other stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that the Saudis are over-reacting hilariously, as usual. But I can understand their rationale.
lol come on. Are you honestly saying there were no rainbows before the 'gays' took it as their 'icon'? Even on kids things?

I will have to advise my nephew never to go there then, he has a massive tattoo PRIDE on his arm lol.

Funny thing is he is not gay, he is in a gaming Clan who all have a nickname and they all got it tattooed on their arms.

Why? It's simply pointing out whataboutery - I think you're being incredibly stupid if you can't understand that. That someone hasn't condemned the behaviour of Brits abroad or whatever [insert bad thing] in a thread that has little to do with that isn't particularly relevant and doesn't represent a double standard.

Here you go... didn't even go through every page and loads of posts have been deleted by the mods. It's like older generations (in particular) saying "I'm not racist but...".

Being gay should be encouraged.

Image 99% of men were gay, there would be no wars, supermarket quiches wouldn't be terrible, and for the remaining 1% that were not gay, image all the women....

It's also very quickly sort out world over population.

I do however find it wired and creepy that the gay community has appropriated the rainbow which until a couple of decades ago were mostly attributed to children's things. Either they did this because they feel the need to infantilize themselves or they want to appeal to children.

Why couldn't they have just been happy with Pink?

That's owned by them women.

Bloody gays taking all the colours. Why couldn't they just pick two and leave the rest of the palette to us normies eh. So selfish.

I thought homosexual colours were sweetcorn and brown?

Imagine not being able to process sarcasm.
In fact there are 3 posts there that are quite obviously facetious and I'm pretty worried that you can't perceive that.
