HoN

The worst thing I find is that playing with randoms means you can end up with a team gimped early. Things like having 2 jungling heroes in your team, or 4 melee and 1 ranged gives you a MASSIVE disadvantage.

I played a game earlier today that gave me rage. I decided because I was on my own I'd play in a 'noob' game and we had a 1600+ player telling everyone what to do and causing massive problems in the laning phase and a scout who refused to level electric eyes.

The worst thing about the HoN community I have to say is the people who wont accept advice, and just start flaming. In WoW if you're in a dungeon group and keep on screwing up you get flamed it, if you're playing CS and keep on screwing up you get flamed for it. Any game where someone relies on their team mates who keep messing up is going to end in flaming.

If you're new to HoN the best thing to do is read hero guides on the forums and play with someone you know who knows how to play. It makes learning the game a LOT easier.

Best to stick to BD/BP, it happens less often in those modes. I've seen people play jungle heroes in the enemy jungle, Opelia mainly but it's very risky.

bingo, its infuriating when you watch people make completely ridiculous decisions. theres a learning period and then theres complete idiocy.

for instance, this is a game that involves combat, you have health, running into multiple enemies will cause said health to disappear... simple life/death concept. yet they will run in arms flaying thinking they can kill everyone because they have a sword...

theres also the fact anybody with a clue can realise if hes level 5, and your level 2... dont **** with him... its not likely to end well...

another annoying thing, if you watch your radar you can generally get an idea of whats going on and whats comnig from where, yet they'll run blindly into places you can see an enemy hero has just gone there...

im guilty of raging purely because i dont like losing, i dont play games to lose because some guy cant think remotely like a person whos played any game ever...

the best thing to do as with any game that involves items/levelling/skills is to read up on them. the forums are cram packed with guides from simple game mechanics/skills/tactics to full hero guides on how best to utilise a heroes strengths and what items benefit him most. its great, ive pretty much got every heroes best items memorised now but its still useful at times to check and see iteresting character builds.

dont give up because you got shouted at. become good and hurl some abuse down on the noobs, its a right of passage!

People who don't watch their map or have sound are the worst..

Whats that, you want me to type every time you walk into a danger area..

I spend the entire game just typing "care bot" "care top" "b bot" "b top"

i dont mind doing the whole noting for people to be careful, mainly out of the fact somebody is missing from ym lane and ive watched which way they are heading, so ill tell the allies in that direction to be careful or to move back. i enjoy kind of helping people out.

its when they dont take notice of what your saying thats annoying :P

i love the game, but it drives me mad aswell. lately just been doing no stats for fun and randoming to get myself clued in on every hero. plus i dont want my PSR to drop below 1700 :P

I managed to consistently win games and stay below 1300 PSR for SO long because i'd play stupid 1v1's with my mate who's awesome :P I've only just managed to get above 1500 and i'm finding it hard to keep it there because I play with randoms so much. The 1550+ and 1600+ games are a lot better when you know what you're doing, too.

I also try to only play BD or BP because some heroes in the game (Jeraziah, Chronos) are brutal to play against.

aye thats how i got above the 1700, was moving through the different psr restricted lobbies, 1500, 1550, 1600, 1650 and now 1700 if possible. just playing no stats to get accustomed to every hero. obviously its easy to just get in a game n pick a character im good with that benefits the team.

also i stick away from the EM games now. gone from 300 games played 99% Em Games to 79% now. much better caliber of player in them. so just stick to 1650+ Single Draft. cant go wrong, it narrows down the chance for some complete moron :D

Yeah, EM games are completely different from normal games. In easy mode it's a lot easier for a carry to get massive farm and just go on a rampage from about 15 minutes in.

What's your HoN username? I'll join in with a few no stats games if you want :)

Feel really grubby as a first post, but for what it's worth I've been a long time reader of the site, just not much of the posting type.

However for the life of me I cannot find a HoN Beta key give away, the facebook site has none and the Alienware has none. Been playing a lot of League of Legends and enjoyed it but looking for something a little more in depth and this looks the ticket.

Would anyone be kind to shoot a key to me please ([email protected]). Quick question as how are you guys getting keys to hand out?, would like to also hand one to my brother if possible so just curious as to where people are getting them?.

Thanks in advance.

Done Stuart's just post his email address. People in the beta get invites so anyone in beta most likely has a spare key or 5

sorry for the late reply, forgot to check back on this thread as it had moved back through the pages :P

Pingu_Pi is my username for anybody who would like to have a blast :D

Bump!

Open beta now so don't need invites. It has evolved nicely :) Check it out.

It's similar to LoL but actually quite different, more complicated, more to learn, different shop layout, you can deny creeps/heroes/towers if they are low HP and the enemy get 1/3 of the XP, more trolls, 25 levels instead of 18, more "competitive", more heroes, more game modes (banning pick, banning draft, random draft, all pick, single draft).

There are lots more players since it's gone open beta, peaked at 60,000 on Sunday I think. Matchmaking still sucks though :\

is the installer from their site corrupt? i have downloaded it many times and to different locations but get corrupt archive error message. grrr
