Horizon: Zero Dawn [PS4]

That was scary. Or more of a huge panic. Wanted to get a closer look at the sheer size of that thing.

:D

I was tempted to take on one of those on my way to Meridian (no spoilers - it is just off the main path). Thought better of it when I saw the size and level.

Up to level 21 now after a few hours play over the weekend. Would have got further but the Mrs has really gotten into the game as well. I would just by a digital copy and trade mine in, but I really want the collectors edition.

It's interesting watching the E3 presentations again now that the game is out. I would never have thought to slide under one of the bigger robots to target its power cell or something.

Not tried it myself yet, but some of the first skills I've obtained were the slow down timer perks for this sort of thing.

I know for a fact that if I tried that I'd miss what I was trying to shoot and then I'd get stood on as well :D:(

Are the resources that just say used for trading with merchants for shards, just for that.

Have they got any other value, not on the game currently but I'm sure I saw that to buy upgraded weapons you need shards and certain resources to trade.

How have they made an open game look so good with PS4 specs?!

Insane!

Any tips on how to make cash?
Need an extra 300 shards to buy a nice set of armour, but I'm too scared to sell most of my resources since they either say for crafting or can be traded.

I'm really enjoying the game. I've only just left the first area so the combat for now is pretty rubbish as it's just a case of dodge then heavy attack and finish. But the game itself is still good, especially just exploring and taking in the beautiful scenery

It's definitely made me want to get a pro!

As others have said, loving this game, havent had so much fun for a while now, would recommend to anyone on the fence. Only up to lvl 12 but enjoying the sheer variety with the side missions etc.

Combat really ramps up once you move through the story / open up areas with new robots.

There are resources you can just sell (have no other use) but there are also other resources which you can either sell or trade for weapons / armour (+ shards). For example to get the armour I have you need 950 shards and 2 Watcher hearts. You could just sell the hearts for ~50 shards if you don't want/need the armour.

What they've done with this game graphically is truly spectacular. Not that I've ever thought Witcher 3 looked really amazing (nor was it that good of a game, except some dialogues and sidequests), but still. The detail on Aloy alone is pretty amazing.

EDIT: And that W3 is modded;p

Its really is!... Its not something that happens often when gaming, but I have found myself saying 'wow' out-loud a few times. After a tough fight, or extended dialogue section, I'll often take some time just to wander and take it all in, before delving back to the action. I do the same in Witcher3 on my PC, but overall HZD tops that for moments of visual awe.

Remember you can buy back if you do sell, also there's a vender in main city that sells things like watcher, sawtooth hearts etc.

I tend to build up so many resources I sell them in a bulk of 100. I kill everything in sight though lol.

Also you can create a "job" at venders and it will give you a quest to find that missing part.

I believe anything that just says sell for shards, like ancient trinkets etc are good. I get a lot of blaze canisters that you can get rid of in batches of 50. Sell most of the green mods and only keep the rarer ones. Money and resources is one thing that I don't find an issue, but I am taking my time getting to the main quest, pretty much looking all over and doing sides and errands, collecting a lot of junk - having to chuck some stuff.

Really liking this although I struggled a bit at first, makes the purchase of the pro well worth it, actually a game that isn't far off graphically from my gaming PC, about time consoles caught up a bit even if it is just the playstation for now, I still enjoy a good gaming session on my sofa. This game delivers to a PC gamer like myself. The HDR is a game changer.

So I managed to clear the first bandit camp without talking to Nil (That task now has a red cross next to it).

Does anyone know if this will affect future missions with him or will he turn up again?
