Horizon: Zero Dawn [PS4]

Yes, it's not unknown for me to pick up the heavy weapons and then slowly plod my way around the map to a quest so I can use it to shoot robots. :D

All cauldrons done and dusted.

Zeta with the Thunderjaw encounter was over in seconds. I readied 3x Freeze arrows unloaded whilst it was frozen, quickly switched to Tear arrows and shot of both shoulder cannons and used about 6 shots from said cannon and the thing was down. I was surprised at how effective freeze really is.

I haven't read all these cauldron spoilers as I've only done one but will the game become too easy if you can take control of any machine? Are there ones that can't be overridden or is it just the Corrupted?

Not in my experience. I hardly override machines when I play as I prefer to run on foot everywhere. I only override in order to create a complete ruckus, should too many machines be blocking my way to an objective. The game would definitely have been easier if there was a 'follow me' command implemented, luckily there isn't.

Afaik it's only corrupted ones you can't tame...

Nice!

I still need to get the Charger thingy so I can get the elemental bow. I will put it on my to do list tonight. I forgot to say, I spent most of last night hunting Boars for a skin. Got one in the end! :)

Reached level 21. On the way to Meridian. I just bought the epic quality Tripcaster bow that can fire 3 types of lines.

I came across the big machine that they featured at E3. They one with the cannon on its back. Needless to say it completely owned me. I also saw the big flying one. I gave that one a wide berth.

I've just 100% it in just over 50 hours, loved every minute of it. I know it's still early in the year but if it doesn't sweep up awards like Uncharted did it'll have to be one hell of a year in gaming.

A truly wonderful game and the first title in a while when I have had to force myself to stop playing it , haven't had one of those in a while.

how do you kill the fire throwing machine, honestly, i am gonna break something!

I was watching some guy on Twitch do it yesterday. No tactics whatsoever. He just laid down a sea of blaze and shock bombs on the ground before lowering the shield. Then he just let rip with a load of arrows one after another. Hell, he didn't even aim (pulling the string back). I was agog at how easy he made it look.

How plentiful are mods later on?
Is it a wise decision to get the tinkerer skill?

That skill is quite costly and I never used it. I just put some purples in and left them. the mods only really go in one slot so unless you wanted to sell them for shards, it's not a big deal overwriting existing ones.

Can you override a Sawtooth?

Geez! That looks fun.

One mission away from the end and so far the story is everything I expected before even buying the game - superb! Here are pics of two late game armours (no real spoilers)
