Horizon: Zero Dawn [PS4]

Many games have casual difficulty modes now, I can't see the problem with it myself. Some people just want to play for the experience of it rather than the challenge aspect.

Yeah, I like them. I need to play through the first three Uncharted games before I have a go at the two new ones. The first two I've already played many moons ago, so I see no reason not to razz through them on the easiest difficulty to remind me of the stories again.

I can understand some people may just be very casual gamers but it kind of ruins the point of the game, surely? The whole experience revolves around beating what appear to be ridiculous odds in battle. :)

That's true to a point but ridiculous odds also depend on how good you are. I don't see the harm myself if someone wants less challenge or just doesn't have the time to die/restart dozens of times. In my pre-kid days I'd ramp up the difficulty but I'm a strictly "normal" difficulty guy now as I have a big enough backlog of games for the 5-10 hours I get for gaming each week.

I can see both sides as for example I loved bloodborne art style etc but I found it difficult to the point it was zero fun and hated it so I just got rid, a shame really as it's lore etc was great.

Then I find some games titanfall 2 for example it's hardest difficulty is imo easy

Just finished this, really enjoyed it but probably won't go back to it. It's a shame there wasn't more breadth/depth in the item progression - I got all the Very Rare kit quite early on and then it was just the odd modification upgrade throughout. Great game though, would definitely recommend.

Not even for the DLC?

If you've done all the quests, you've probably got them all. I missed one in the VERY far south west of the map. So I had to go back and replay that bit.

Not necessarily. Some are hidden that don't popup until you're near an area. I thought I had them all until I went exploring near the right hand gate where the scrapper area was. The bolt gun.

There was another that popped, the one with the freaky guy and the oil? I didn't know if that was part of it but kept completing everything until no more exclamation marks popped.

I have done 20 possible 21 side quests and doing the lodge one currently but game isn't clear on who are allies anyway which doesn't help

The eleven Side Quests you need to complete are:
  1. Traitor’s Bounty
  2. Queen’s Gambit - Available after completing "Traitor's Bounty"
  3. A Moments Peace
  4. A Daughter’s Vengeance
  5. Sun and Shadow
  6. Honor the Fallen
  7. Sunstone Rock
  8. Hunting For the Lodge - Errand Side Quest
  9. Hunter’s Blind - Available after completing "Hunting For the Lodge"
  10. Deadliest Game - Errand Side Quest - Available after completing "Hunter's Blind"
  11. Redmaw - Available after completing "Deadliest Game"

Cheers for that! Am all good then got them all done all ready :)

How did you find Redmaw? The best looking Thunderjaw!

It must be a beast on Ultra Hard.
I enjoyed the battle! Stormbird I found best enemy though.

I did! I got the platinum once I had the shieldweaver armor it was insanely easy mind I also found it helped me on the trails

How's the frame rate on a standard ps4?

Been planning to pick this up due to the high praise it has received but watched some videos and appeared a bit stuttery, not sure if down to YouTube and the capturing process so thought I'd ask here.

Probably best to search for Digital Foundry's in depth analysis on it (it may be direct through Youtube).

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-horizon-zero-dawn-ps4-pro-performance-analysis

I have only played it on the Pro (oddly it is the only game I haven't tried on my secondary normal PS4) but judging from the above it should be a locked 30fps with correct frame pacing (smooth) experience.

Thanks for that, I love the stuff Digital Foundry do, I'll definitely have a watch later.

Do you play in 4k or 1080?
