Horizon: Zero Dawn [PS4]

I have to say I'm astounded by this game - picked up a Pro just after Christmas and got this with it and I have to say it's amazing!

I'm not normally a fan of story-driven games, especially where you have to aim with the analogue sticks because I'm rubbish at that, but I'm loving it!

The only part I'm struggling with is knowing what to keep in my inventory and what to trash - how do you know whether something you have picked up might be needed later on??

Skins and bones sometimes some meats are usually for craft upgrades. Rats, racoons depending where you know where to look can be hard to find. You’ll need to go fishing a lot as they come up quite often for craft upgrades. My problem was I farmed too many items and I still fill up 120 slots. The DLC upgrade to 120 slots was weak.

Lenses and hearts usually get you new bows and outfits. Sometimes the glass shines and processed blocks. I cannot remember every detail.

I only have 2 or 3 craft upgrades to do on the Rattler and some of the Slingshots. Then I can start ditching stuff and really build up my weapon ammo. Also farming shards from zone to zone preparing for the hunting grounds in the Frozen Wilds.

I must have missed something... That fully upgraded shock blast rifle weapon, the more you squeeze the trigger and let rip, you’ll likely die? First time I had used it and ended up killing myself. :o

It's definitely worth getting the purple bows as fast as possible. With some of the harder opponents you need to switch weapons and exploit their weaknesses.

Tried taking down a demonic Thunderjaw on Ultra Hard? Damn!... and that is with the Banuk bows and good coils. It moves even faster than a regular Thunderjaw that the regular seems so tame. It never seemed to die hitting 3 arrows at a time straight into its heart.

No, I struggle enough with combat on normal difficulty. I'm a PC gamer, so any kind of shooter on a console is incredibly hard for me trying to aim. :D

I was the same (but I'm a convert to PS4 now with PC gaming taking a back seat) but preferred to do my first playthrough on hard when I got this game. There are normally multiple ways of killing enemies so you have to find what works for you. I've always liked playing stealth as I'm a coward so used a lot of baiting/stealth kills and traps. Saying that, once you figure out the weaknesses it's pretty simple to take most enemies down from distance. :D

Fire arrows on grazer tanks and harvest arrows on the remaining ones will net you a load of much needed blaze. Have that one for free as it'll come in handy. I usually farm at the first proving ground. :)

I never play a game on anything less than hard these days - might as well get your moneys worth! It's probably why I don't finish half of them though :p that said, anything less than Hard on Horizon would have been too easy IMO

I play everything on PC on hard or above, but I am rubbish at consoles so tend to stick to normal and enjoy the game, rather than get frustrated and chuck the controller on the floor.

I'm sure if I had the time I could play many games on hard - but I don't. When I settle down to play a game I want a challenge, I hate walking through things, but I also want to see pprogression. There is nothing worse than if I've found a couple of hours to play I've got nothing to show for it with the exception of being angry and not wanting to play the game any more.

Most recently I went back for another run of "Fractured But Whole" - thought I might as well pick up the "Token Experience" trophy. Alas, I cannot do the combat at the hardest level. I'm sure there will be many calls of "learn to play" but it's simply not fun watching a fail yet again....
Normal difficulty for me.

Can someone do me a favour please? I'm quite far through (level 20ish) but I still have two undiscovered machines. In the catalogue I need the last on the right on top row and the 2nd from left on bottom row. Can anyone tell me what they are and where I can find them?

Just play through, you'll find them eventually.

Just got the power armour, think I'll have to raise the difficulty now.

Stalkers can be a pain, best bet is to shock them and then do damage when they're down. Rinse and repeat. Becomes interesting when there's a few of them.

Yeah shock bombs will sort Stalkers out in rapid fashion. I think previously I'd wait for them to uncloak then tear arrow the stealth component and shock bomb the gits.

Otherwise setting up shock wire traps and explosives then letting them come at me was a good way to deal with them. :p

Standalone but wouldn’t enter it unless you have all the main game skills and good weapons.

Ok cheers. Can't remember what I have but I know I have an absolute ton of unspent skill points. I have the dreamweaver armour or whatever it is called and purple weapons. Haven't played it since I completed it.
