HOW DO I BUILD MY PC NOW IVE BOUGHT ALL THE BITS?

heatsink onto cpu - pain in the a*** that was - have i got the heatsink positioned in the right direction???

Pain in the a*** ?

Bet you're glad you didn't build it in the case now ! It would have been x2 as painful :)

Great progress you're making here mate - well done

EDIT : OH CRAP I've used offensive language again ! Didn't mean too ! Sorry !

check if the fan of the case is blowing in or out before u fit motherboard, its a pain, to swap round after

Indeed...

Use the tissue trick as sometimes you really can't tell which way the fan is blowing.

ie Thin strip of tissue alongside the fan... Check which way it gets sucked in... Then again I'm not really an expert with this technique - maybe Matthew has more expertise in this field ;)

From Wikipedia:

"To create the anti-static effect, the bags are slightly conductive, forming a Faraday cage around the item to be protected and preventing any localized charges from being deposited onto the protected devices as the bags are handled. It is important that the bags only be opened at static-free workstations."

^^

God that is so anal.

I've seen so many ppl build on them... I've done it too but then again I've been using the foam that comes with the mobo box lately.

Fair point about the 'slight' conductivity but negligible and harmless imo

Edit : Would recommend resting the mobo ontop of the foam with both of them on the box. Looks nice and gives clearance for the gfx card to slow in.

baby is asleep again which is a touch without sounding too harsh!

right then people, i have no idea really what comes next???!!!

fit the dvd roms and hard drives to chasis

then graphics and any other additional cards,

then sit back and think what cables u need for power and data , and find nice tidy routs to fit them all

that's nice man ! You sure you've not done this before ? Maybe you could build me a PC ?

1 thing.... Fan connector, find the cpu fan/case/power fan connector - they should be around the CPU socket itself ... Dont stretch the cable that far, it's blocking your PCI-e slot (blue)

2nd thing ... Screw bottom right doesn't see right

3 power for the CPU and motherboard ... connect those up.

4 locate and understand the the front panel connector
