As it happens I cant see an LED on the MOBO - can you point out where one should be on an Asus p5q-e?

yes, the monitor plugs straight into the port on the back of the GFX card.

Should be ok unless its VGA into DVI then you might need to use the convertor that came with the GFX card.

Make sure your PSU switch is swithed to the on position (back of psu/case) - that's often a rookie mistake if you think it's not working.

Might seem stupid but you wont get an LED unless the PSU switch is turned to "on"

Yes - but better just to press the delete key after the first beeb - if you get one. Go to system monitoring and check your temps.

To switch off, press and hold down the power button on the case - front of case that is

Authorization granted.

What do you mean by the BIOS ?

Oh and to power down the PC completely make sure you turn off from the mains. You may notice that dispite this, the onboard LED is still on. This is due to residual charge on the motherboard.

Discharge it by switching the power switch again. The cpu fan might spin and the LED fades out. It's now safe to work on the PC again
