How do you go to sleep with your partner?

Isn't a Super King basically two beds together?

Or is it the fact you have two separate duvets that appeals?
A super king is the size of 2 singles pushed together. When I was a kid I had a single, then a teenager a double. To me it made no sense why just because I'm sharing that I now only need the size of bed I had as a kid. But more importantly, 2 beds together sets boundaries. My partner can't roll in the night and steal 80 percent of the space

I actually sleep in a seperate room to my Wife i;m 42 and been together 23 years (not seperated.)
My son has cerebral palsy and he sleeps in the bed with my wife, he's 7 but the size of a 3 year old so he sleeps in the double bed with my wife, too old for a cot and too small for his own bed really.
so OT advised this arrangement. He has a special sleeping system that he has to use that fits the bed and it basically cocoons him, bit like memory foam and big thick blocks so he can't flail around.

Anyway, means i have been relegated to the spare bedroom for the past few years, least i'm away from the snoring... makes it hard to get any loving though. :(
Especially as well have 2 other kids in the house.
On the plus side, I can play games and come to bed late without disturbing her.

I actually like sleeping alone. it's cooler in the summer and so peaceful at times. just that one major drawback.

Kinda surprised how common this seems to be here.

Super king size bed and it's effectively like I sleep alone anyway cos we have plenty of space. Not sure I would want separate rooms. Seems a bit odd to me but then I'm in the minority it seems!
I think it;s more common nowadays, far more common than I thought tbh

Wife goes to bed hours before me so I creep up and slip into the 25% of bed left on my side with no duvet on, then probably average about 6 hours a night whilst she snores and gets up at the crack of dawn waking me up. She probably averages 9 hours a day sleep but will often nap to "catch up".

Double duvet for her, and a single duvet for me, as apparently I get annoyed in my sleep if it is pulled off of me.

I’m normally asleep first as our 4 month old dictates my partners sleep schedule, and I have to get up for work/prepare our older daughter for nursery etc.

Same bed
She takes after her grandad and never sleeps on the day she woke
Me I am an early in and early up (bet that gets pulled apart) and am usually dreaming by the time she gets in
When away we usually go at the same time

over 10 years together, always same bed unless had a argument (which is rare) but also share bed with 3 bloody cats as well

Main aspect for me with a Superking is it is slightly longer. I am 191cm so makes sense.

We have had a Superking for nearly ten years now and not once have I had encroachment whilst sleeping unless it is intentional which depending on my mood I do not mind.

When you want to do the business do you have arguments on which bed or do you straddle both to make it fair? :P

I remember my grandparents sleeping in separate rooms. It was nothing to do with their relationship or anything, it was that my grandad had been a milkman all his working life. His sleep pattern as a milkman was weird, about 8pm till 2am. He did it for so long he couldn’t get out of it for the rest of his life. Was on his first cup of tea by 3am every morning. In the end my Nan couldn’t suffer it any more, so they slept apart.

My grandparents slept in separate beds as long as I remember though it was in the same room (it was a very large room it was a very large house) my grandfather used to snore like an elephant though so I've no idea how she slept through that I'm a light sleeper theres no way I could. They didn't really see eye to eye though and I think she put up with him on sufferance

One of the couples for the reason of this thread are my In Laws.
In 2021 I went on a Stag Weekend with my Brother in Law and shared a bed.
We did half of the famous Leeds Beer Run and even filled with beer I didn't get one wink of sleep being in the same bed as my Brother in Law.
I'd seen nothing like it, the noises he made were worse than snoring and at least 3 times he hit me with his flailing arms.
At one point I collected spare pillows etc to try and sleep on the floor, it failed.
I then pushed my wheelchair as far away as I could from him and filled it with pillows etc to try and get to sleep, it failed.
The following day I went down to reception to see if thy had a spare room, normal days were £38 but this weekend was £230.
I then got more drunk during the second stage of the Beer Run and I actually slept until the alarm went off :)
I can understand why my In Laws sleep in separate rooms.

it's always my side, but that's mostly because i enjoy sleeping in the juices.

i forgot about this. that week we tried a super king, the length was so nice to have that extra 10cm. i sleep diagonally on my doulbe so that my feet arne't too far over the edge.

i had a friend like this, in that he was the loudest worst person to sleep near. when travelling i would take my single and push it into the bathroom and sleep in there, and even then that wouldn't be far enough away. no idea how his partner would sleep in the same bed as him.

Together 28 years. She sleeps very lightly, I (apparently) snore.

Separate rooms when one wakes up we go through and usually cuddle for an hour before getting up.

I miss holding her as we go to sleep, but the only way she sleeps with any quality is sleeping alone.
