Same.More or less the same time, but rarely the same bed anymore. Wife gets up a lot earlier for work and often can’t sleep half the night, both of which disturb me.
Wife and I share a double, plenty of room. You share a double bed with another adult? It's definitely a double?
Same.
Gf needs waaaay more hours sleep.
And is also a light sleeper. So it's not like I can even go in when I'm ready for bed.
It does suck but I'd lose 2-3 hours a day every day of life if we slept in the same bed
Its the getting into bed, opening the door etc.Does she get waken up by movement getting ready for work in the morning or the car leaving the house?
I am the lightest sleeper in the world and can function on a couple of hours if needed yet my missus getting out of bed never wakes me up. It is things like boiling the kettle, brushing teeth or her driving off that wakes me up as they are a lot louder than getting out of bed.

Problem is if she wakes up she can't get back to sleep. So the risk is just too high. As she's basically dysfunctional without sleep and it compromises her work
I am the same it sucks. Once I wake up I am up for the day but it is normally the car leaving or the kettle going or something like that.
Yeah so it would seem...I'm also surprised how common this is.
Is it just one of those things people don't talk about because they think they'll be judged as weird? But many people do it?
It was never mentioned or talked about with my grandparents nor my parents so I never found out why but I did find it odd, just one of those things never discussed there was an unspoken taboo about the subject I expect the same is true for many peopleI'm also surprised how common this is.

I used to go to bed hours after my ex wife as I really struggle to sleep unless I am absolutely knackered now matter what I do, so I'd be in bed at 1-2am.Nothing dirty but on Sunday there were 6 couples, 3 of us old and 3 of us young (parents and kids basically).
One of my daughters was on about her husbands sleeping habits and said he spent most nights in the other bedroom.
The other 4 couples then said they mostly sleep separately.
The other thing was that all 5 couples also went bed at a different time to their partners with 4 of them being the bloke going later one of them being the woman going later.
Me and my wife have always gone to bed at the same time ** for the last 45 years of marriage and always fall asleep in each others arms (aaaahhhh)
** Obviously I gig with my bands now and then so I might get in around 1am but as soon as I get in bed we cuddle.
I'm now wondering if we're actually weird.
So OCUK, do you go to bed at the same time and do you sleep in the same bed?
I don't want to sound insulting but I just don't believe you. Let's say the bed is the larger double which is 4.5ft over the normal double of 4ft, that's just 2.25ft per adult. My should are wider than that. And those measurements are taking about being right on one edge of the bed to the other. I reality you want half a foot from the edge each side, so you're 2 adults sharing about 3.5ft.
A double is for a young adult, not 2 grown adults
