How many Focus ST owners on here

I seem to find it the other way around, people see an ST and try and race it. Ironically yesterday a BMW came off a roundabout very slowly onto a dual carriageway, I moved out to overtake and when I got along side he obviously didn't want to be overtaken and tried to pull away.

I totally recognise this.. I remember having loads of Saxos and whatnot always hassling my orange one.

Had a guy come next to me in his Subaru and do the whole let's race thing. Other then that I ignore it. Think I've grown out of the race on public roads things. Just rather cruise and listen to the lovely 5pot burble/pop on lift off.

I had a mixture when I had my ST I strangely got a thumbs up from a guy driving an Impreza and a Leon Cupra driver and a few from other Ford drivers.
But then you have the idiots mainly diesel Audi and 320d drivers who thought there cars were the fastest thing ever. Had the occasional new Fiesta ST having a play aswell. Get 0 attention in my Mondeo ST220 :D love when people in average 100bhp hatchbacks look in bemusement when a 14yr old Mondeo leaves them easily

Back when they were new I used to get a lot of flashing from other STs and I even used to get that much attention I often felt nervous leaving it to go into shops.. this was right after the clarkson "roooooooooney" thing though and folks liked calling it the ASBO (wasn't even orange at that point) but I'd assume now the novelty has well and truly worn off.

Apart from the fact they've fallen into the hands of idiots.. I mean my original ST2 was well over £20k new.. what can you get them for now? £5k?

That's too much oomph for that much money!

but I agree, mine never really encouraged me to do launch starts and crazy driving, made much more sense as a fast cruiser.

Why do ST drivers always try to race me (and they usually have modded exhausts too)?

I get that in the Evo a lot with ST drivers.

Drove an ST2 on track when they were not but a year old, and you're right - it feels a lot more like a tourer. Very boaty!

I had an idiot in a 335i with a "twins inside" bumper sticker acting like a tool a few days ago. Obviously trying to prove his twin turbo superiority over my lowly ST.

The only other prat I have had was another mk2 ST driver about an inch from my rear bumper.

My old orange one seemed to attract more idiots.

I had a guy in a 330i Coupe like this once. It was recession white, black wheels windows down, steroid inflated arm hanging out the window, music blaring, shades on even though it was winter pull up next to me in the wrong lane at the lights “because Bmw” so I floored it just for the lol’s and to my surprise because of the torque in 2nd and his being normally aspirated I pulled half a car length on him to just touching 50 then he carried on accelerating to probably double the speed limit just to make a point because he couldn’t cut in front of a 10yr old Focus :D

Haha, that is the funniest description of a car and it's driver that I have heard in a while :D

To be fair the ST can be quite quick especially with a rolling start. I find it can be a bit of a bugger to get a decent launch off the line though but it is not really something I do often as I try not to get sucked in to the traffic light GP... as hard as it is to resist sometimes! :p

Are any of you running decats on the st225? If so any benefit from it? As I read it releases a few bhp and better set with a downpipe. I'm planning on getting a downpipe but not sure whether to go decat or sportscat? Sportscat seems a better bet though as it's mot friendly. Or just leave the standard cat on.

I'd say go with the sports cat if you can, saves any hassle and 100% MOT friendly so you'll not need to take it off again.

In the long distant past running downpipe and decat was a decent combination until I ruined it by adding a magnex cat-back, the droning you got while cruising was awful :( not looked back since the sports car went on. One option for adding some exhaust note with the sports car is to get the mid section silencer replaced with straight pipe on the standard exhaust, doesn't make it too noisy by all accounts

Mine already has the deres on the standard exhaust. Sounds decent. Though with it being mapped soon I'm seeing what my options are for money. As I read the downpipe helps the turbo spool quicker / decat sports cat helps it breath better.

Not sure how much restrictive cat will be if I just opt for downpipe and rest of exhaust.

Down pipe will make the biggest difference, then the cat and last the cat back IMO.

The downpipe is the cheapest part too. But like I say that's just my personal opinion and others may have different thoughts or experiences.

I'd pretty much agree with that :)

Yeah so I'm going to downpipe keep the standard cat and get a catback. May get a sports cat later on.

Next week is going to be very expensive though I'm looking forward to it.
