How many Focus ST owners on here

That's not a bad idea as the cat is easy to replace later on if you so decide to swap it out, just 4 bolts and one rubber hanger.

It will be worth it mate, I bet you can't wait! :D

I've identified I've got a Mountune cat back on my ST225, no idea on the cat or downpipe though, it was like it when I got it. Sounds good, not annoyingly loud, keeping the subtle burble when idle. Here's a pic from when I had the tyres replaced with PS4 tyres due to the quite frankly terrible handling with the minimum tread depth mismatched tryes. Still it did get me enough off the price to rectify.

Thanks for that, no, I didn't realise. I guess the Mountune brand just carries the premium because of the Ford backing.

Yeah it seems to be the more logical choice. I could go sports cat and downpipe on the standard exhaust but id like more noise personally.

I'm looking forward to it but I know I'll be spending more for an rs clutch in the future.

Standard exhaust gives you plenty of noise IMO. I went decat De-Res which was a bit too much for me but it made a nice noise when booting it.

Yeah a part of me is thinking I should just opt for sports cat and downpipe with the map. Instead of the section 59 exhaust which I know is rather loud. I'll speak to them about my options and see what they can advise.

I'm happy with the standard Mongoose cat-back on mine (with downpipe & 100 cell sports cat). Get nice comments on the sound being pleasing to the ear without causing annoyance or attracting too much attention so that ticks the boxes for me

No cracks.

Take it it’s in getting the block mod done? Any other work while it’s there? How long does the job take?

Yes blockmod is getting done at the moment. Not sure on timescale as I didn't ask but I guess it's around 4-5 hours? Also getting intercooler/catback/map. Decided to go with DS as they came down on the price for the latter work so worked out better for me.

Oh so it’s all getting done by Ds now instead of Collins? Should feel like a complete different car on the way home :D wish I would have got mine done when I had it my insurers wouldn’t cover a remap so couldn’t be bothered changing mid policy.

Yeah as much as I wanted to go with Collins, the Ds has a larger intercooler and the catback is practically the same. Maps going to be around the power I want with room to add downpipe/sportscat/airfilter to gain more power. Also saves me a journey and time plus the customer service has been very good so I'm confident it won't fail to please.

It can range between 500-800 depending on who you go to. Dazs autos in Rochdale I think charges around the £500 from what I read but ds charge 695 with oem waterpump. Also they take pictures of the work etc

No not mod X as I don't have full supporting mods. Jared advised mod c which I can add to such as dp/SC/induction as I said I'd like to prolong clutch life so I ain't back tomorrow for an rs clutch lol

Haha that is fair enough. ModC will have more than enough punch I am sure, I run ModB which is plenty of power in my opinion and C is a newer more refined map than that so I am sure it will be a ton of fun :D

Block mod can pretty much take all day. It's ironic it takes literally seconds to fit the shims but several hours to strip the car down getting the cylinder head off then putting it all back together. When mine was done at Collins that included fitting new belt kit, seals for end of the cams and timing everything up.

Job can turn into a pain in cases where the exhaust/turbo manifold nuts won't come off or snap studs instead

I didn't have the water pump changed on mine, asked about it yesterday while car was in for service at Collins but Gary said he's not come across any ST's having water pump issues. Block mods keeping them busy as usual.....

The water pump is a pain in the rear to replace, there is very limited space to work with even with engine dropped down a bit. The one I removed looked to be in very good condition to be fair and the bearing was still smooth.
