How many Focus ST owners on here

Ive Been quoted £360 and £390 from two reputable garages by mine do these quotes sound about right for the cambelt, waterpump and aux belt on the ST225? Sounds quite high to me considering all the kit can be bought for £120:confused:
Also anyone had a Revo remap on there ST? Are they any good? There's a place not far from me called Riverside racing I was thinking of using when I get it mapped after xmas.

I have booked into Devil Developments for block mod inc cam/aux belts for £570, but no waterpump.

So if all those bits are OEM Ford you are looking at £252 for parts alone (using the prices on A&K Motorsport for Belts/Waterpump). So £360 is pretty cheap,

Besides in most cases you don't need to change the waterpump. They seem to be almost invincible on our engines.

I'd go a little further afield and get collins personally.
I understand they have the best reputation for the ST/RS but 50 miles is just too far for me to travel and then kill time while I'm there waiting for them to do the work :( it will have to be the Revo Technik or the plug in Bluefin.

That sounds a good price for the block mod and cambelt! I thought the block mod was around £400 by itself. I also thought the cambelt, Aux and Waterpump had to be done at the same interval? Might aswell while it's in there I suppose paying the labour.

You can get any Collins map via iFlash these days, no need to go physically see them.

Having said that, there is nothing wrong with REVO. What stage map are you looking at? What supporting mods do you have or plan to get?

I'm only looking at stage 1 which should be about 260bhp shouldn't it? I don't tend to keep cars that long and it will be quick enough. As for other mods is it worth getting a different Intercooler? Performance exhaust? Or induction kit to get the most out of the remap?

Just looked up Riverside Racing and they're probably max 10 mins from where I work.

Handy to know for emergencies but otherwise I'm sticking with my usual ST/RS specialist.

Think Revo are a well established tuner for the ST just not got any idea how their maps compare to the alternatives out there - I don't keep up to date with all that stuff these days and no idea if the mainstream ones like Bluefin have had any further development since I used them on my pre-facelift ST.

Yeh they are only 20 mins away from me that's how I came across them. They seem to be popular and do a lot of work on ST's and RS's. They quoted me £390 for the cambelt etc. And think they charge £350 for the remap.

260bhp will be a noticeable improvement over a stock ST, at this time of year you'll find it makes the ESP light work a tad harder too ;)

For other mods I'd say intercooler first every time. They don't add power on their own (unless you're already running a map that's too high spec for a standard car) but once you've got the IC uprated you'll get the full benefit of any further upgrades. Prices have come down a lot since I bough my first one, a Radtec I think, and the ones available now from Airtec are a great bit of kit plus look the part too. The Radtec was a bit crude looking in comparison. In the exhaust department the downpipe is the main restriction, followed by the standard cat - cat-back systems give a little bit extra plus the obvious sound and visual improvements for tailpipes. There's differing schools of thought with induction kits, on lower stages of mods at least - Mountune used to say the standard airbox was good for up to 300 bhp I think, and actual performance gains with intake kits can be hard to judge. Open filter kits like DS and K&N give better induction sound obviously, plus better access to the oil filter for servicing and in conjunction with the RS ECU casing can be a very neat installation. CAIS kits in comparison are quieter, and some fun & games needed for fitting plus when it comes to servicing.

Just from my experience I'd say stage 1 map first, then intercooler & downpipe in conjunction with uprated map. All depends how far you want to go and how deep your pockets are. Getting carried away is an obvious risk too :p

If you aren't going to go any further than about 300 BHP then the ST Fabrications Intercooler has been getting rave reviews on focusstoc.com and that can be bought for circa £190. That is the route I will most likely be going down!

Morning,

Just wondering if anyone would be able to offer any info on this issue I am having with my 2005 2.5 Focus ST.

The reversing light and sensors are a bit hit and miss. (I can get them to work maybe 2-3 times out of 10 attempts to put the car into reverse).

Someone at work has told me that it could be the reversing switch thats gone screwy. Just wondering if anyone has either changed theirs or had it changed and if so how much is a reasonable price to pay.

I have found conflicting info online where some say its easy and others say its a pig of a job and you need to fiddle with Engine Mounts to get it done?

Any help is fantastic and cheers for reading!

This should help you.

So quick! Thank you very much ubern00b!

That is perfect and looks easy to follow but it seems like its too much for my limited toolkit :(

Its good to know exactly whats involved though and may be able to explain why the local garage did not come back to me! Looking at that file it doesn't look like its a very long job to a garage with the correct tools etc.

No problem :)

All depends on a garages experience with certain models of car I would expect and their confidence of being able to do a job. I would rather a garage say to me "I'm not confident of carrying out this work" instead of trying and bodging it completely.

Where are you based? For any of the ST tuner companies I expect this sort of thing to be a breeze.
